You can be the best mechanic and workshop in the world but sometimes there is no fixing it.

This is one of those jobs, timing belt failure and camshafts damaged also led to the crank snapping and the block damaged.

Customer chose a brand new engine. Off we go. Should be ready early next week, masses of parts everywhere and a very empty engine bay.

When you’re working on vehicles the simple jobs that can just turn into a nightmare.

Glow plugs for instance, they just screw in and out!!!!!

When when one snaps and they are located at the back of the engine it’s a bit of a pain.

Drilled out and managed to not damage the threads, result.

Well it’s been another busy week and most of the vehicles have been repaired and back to the owners.

Couple here waiting to be collected and a few just need the finishing touches.

In today just finishing off not answering the phone or doing any fresh work just getting the garage ready for the short week next week.

Some pictures just because we can. A drop valve engine repair all happening. A recon head, new piston and rebuild. Soon back on the road.

Good morning.

Another day another lot of repaired cars out from yesterday and new ones all starting to come in for today.

Busy day ahead, engine faults, wet timing belts, brakes, clutch’s, shock absorbers and a cylinder head to rebuild, it’s all going on, plus the usual servicing and mot tests.

Highlight from yesterday, a routine wet belt replacement on a Ford eco boost , customer had no symptoms but as you can see they wasn’t far off. Lucky.

2019 Peugeot 508

Another dv5 being rescued after the followers failing and leaving the valves open. The piston did the rest.

Nearly ready to go and earn its keep again. Head removed and repaired, new valves, followers and the revised 8mm chain kit and camshafts.

Some fresh oil and coolant and she is ready to go again.

Oh no, not the best, booked in for a misfire and one of the plugs has vanished. Camera shows a valve chipped hopefully that’s all.

Even Volvos are not what they used to be 2020, xc 90, in for a noisy turbo and intermittent oil pressure issues.

The parts catalogue for the car state the oil pump is chain driven, strip the car down to do the work and find its timing belt driven like we thought.

Even these belts degrade and cause oil pressure problems. The new pump has been revised to run on a chain.

Large strip down to get to this, subframe and front end removed.

Never really looked at these but yes nice thing, sadly I am not a gentleman 🤣🍺
