This Audi Q7 came into the workshop with a suspension fault and no functioning air suspension.

We carried out a full diagnostic scan and found numerous fault codes stored within the chassis control module.

After identifying a relevant Audi TPi (Technical Product Information), we followed the specified diagnostic test procedure and confirmed that the TPi was applicable to this vehicle.

Further testing of the air suspension system established that the chassis control compressor was no longer producing sufficient pressure, meaning it was unable to operate the suspension correctly.

A replacement compressor is now required to rectify the fault and get the Q7's air suspension working as it should.

🔧 Audi A3 – Clutch Master Cylinder Replacement

One of today’s jobs is replacing the clutch master cylinder on this Audi A3.

The customer explained that another workshop had previously replaced the clutch and flywheel, along with replacing the clutch master cylinder three times.

After listening carefully to the customer’s concerns and carrying out our own checks, we identified an increased and abnormal noise coming from the clutch slave cylinder area. We have therefore recommended replacing the component.

When a vehicle has already had several attempts at resolving the same issue, it’s important to go back to basics, listen to the customer and carry out the correct checks rather than simply making assumptions.

Not every repair goes exactly to plan...

This VAG came into the workshop with a brake fault, and after carrying out a full diagnostic assessment we identified the brake master cylinder as the cause. Normally, this would be a straightforward repair.

However, the replacement master cylinder supplied by the main dealer is different to the original unit and simply doesn't fit, despite the factory repair manual stating that it should be an identical replacement with no modifications required.

Parts compatibility issues like this can sometimes be one of the biggest challenges in modern vehicle repair. Rest assured, we're investigating the issue and will get to the bottom of it. Leave it with us—I'm on the case!

This VAG vehicle came into our workshop with multiple warning lights illuminated on the dashboard.

The customer explained that the vehicle had recently been to another work shop well known for bulbs and wiper blades... we'll leave it at that! for what should have been a straightforward repair replacing the MAP sensor.

Unfortunately, they decided to carry out a wiring repair. This was to the electrical connector and was one of the poorest repairs we've encountered. Poor-quality wiring repairs can lead to intermittent faults, warning lights and unnecessary replacement of perfectly good components.

We rectified the issue by fitting a new genuine electrical repair pin to the connector and carrying out a correct hard-wired repair to the engine loom. The repair was then tested to ensure a reliable electrical connection and restore correct sensor operation.

🚨 Audi S3 Airbag Warning Light Diagnosed 🚨

This Audi S3 arrived with the airbag warning light illuminated. After carrying out a full diagnostic scan with ODIS, we found a fault relating to the passenger airbag deactivation switch (E224).

Following the Audi guided fault-finding test plan, we confirmed that the E224 switch was operating correctly, meaning the fault had to lie elsewhere within the system.

Further investigation led us to the J234 Airbag Control Unit, where the cause quickly became apparent. Water ingress had entered the control unit, and once it was dismantled, the damage to the PCB was clearly visible (see photos).

While the control unit was accessible, we also carried out comprehensive wiring tests between the J234 and the E224 to rule out any wiring faults.

The root cause of the water ingress was traced to a drain pipe that had not been refitted correctly during a previous repair carried out by an Audi dealership. A replacement J234 Airbag Control Unit will rectify the fault, and correctly refitting the drain pipe will prevent the issue from recurring.

A 2022 Audi A3 came into the workshop with a selector fault warning displayed on the dashboard.

After carrying out a full diagnostic assessment and following the relevant Audi Technical Product Information (TPi), we recommended removing the parking lock switch and adjusting the electrical contacts. Fortunately, this appears to have resolved the fault.

We'll be asking the customer to monitor the vehicle. If the warning returns, we'll continue following the Audi repair procedure by carrying out the applicable TPi, performing any required SVM software updates, and, if necessary, replacing the V682 parking lock actuator.

It's always worth following the manufacturer's diagnostic process before replacing expensive components, and in this case we're hopeful that the contact adjustment is all that's required.

Another Audi in the workshop with the dreaded P2002 fault code.

Following a full diagnostic assessment, we confirmed the fault was being caused by a restricted EGR cooler. Once access had been gained and the restriction verified, it was clear that replacement of the EGR cooler was required.

This isn't a small repair. Jobs like this require careful planning, the correct diagnostic process, and attention to detail to ensure everything is completed to the highest standard.

Sometimes the simplest faults can be the most surprising! 😂

This Audi Q7 came into the workshop with a range of faults. The customer insisted the vehicle had "just failed" and that no one had looked at it...

Following our diagnostic test plan, we soon discovered the culprit—a fuse had somehow "magically disappeared"! 🪄

It's amazing how often we come across things like this. That's why a proper, methodical diagnostic process is so important. Rather than guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily, we always follow the correct procedures to identify the root cause.
