⚠️ PORSCHE TAYCAN – PARKING BRAKE FAILURE
Check your brakes before a small problem turns into a very expensive repair.
This Taycan Turbo S came into our workshop with a parking brake issue. Once the rear brakes were dismantled, we found significant damage.
The parking brake shoes had been incorrectly adjusted and were constantly contacting the inside of the brake disc while the vehicle was being driven.
The result:
* Parking brake shoes severely overheated and corroded
* Friction material breaking away from the shoes
* One shoe had lost its friction material completely
* The exposed metal backing had been running directly against the brake disc
* The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) disc was badly scored
And this is where a relatively small parking brake problem can become very expensive.
A replacement ceramic brake disc can cost several thousand pounds – for one disc alone.
The parking brake may be a small part of the braking system, but incorrect adjustment or a seized mechanism can cause serious secondary damage before the driver realises what is happening.
If your Taycan has a parking brake warning, unusual noises from the rear brakes, excessive heat, or you simply aren’t sure when the system was last inspected – don’t ignore it.
