We are looking for an experienced and reliable 7.5t driver to join our specialist vehicle transport operation.

This position could particularly suit a semi-retired professional driver looking for flexible part-time work, although applications are welcome from anyone with the right experience and attitude.

The role will initially be part-time/as required, with the opportunity to develop into a full-time position as our workload continues to grow.

🚘 THE ROLE

You will be transporting a wide variety of vehicles throughout the UK, with a particular focus on:

• Vintage and classic vehicles
• Prestige and performance cars
• Auction collections and deliveries
• Dealer and private customer movements
• Non-running and specialist vehicles

Experience transporting classic, vintage or prestige vehicles would be a major advantage.

Our customers entrust us with vehicles that can be rare, valuable and sometimes irreplaceable, so we are looking for someone who understands that this is about much more than simply driving from A to B.

YOU WILL NEED:

✅ Full licence with 7.5t entitlement
✅ Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
✅ Good knowledge of drivers' hours and vehicle checks
✅ Experience loading and securing vehicles preferred
✅ Professional and careful approach
✅ Good communication and customer service skills
✅ Willingness to work flexible hours when required
✅ Pride in vehicles, equipment and presentation

You must be comfortable dealing directly with private collectors, classic car specialists, dealerships and auction houses.

📍 Based in Leek, Staffordshire
🇬🇧 UK-wide vehicle movements

This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced semi-retired HGV/7.5t driver who doesn't necessarily want a five-day-a-week driving job but would enjoy staying on the road doing something a little different.

Part-time initially – potential to progress to a full-time position.

🇫🇷 120 YEARS OF MOTORING HISTORY – 1905 DE DION-BOUTON 🇬🇧

Not every vehicle we encounter is simply a classic. Some represent the very beginning of motoring itself.

Today we had the privilege of handling this remarkable 1905 De Dion-Bouton, registration BS 8739 — a vehicle dating from an era when the motor car was still very much a pioneering invention.

Founded in France in 1883, De Dion-Bouton became one of the most influential manufacturers of the early motor industry, producing not only complete motor cars but engines and engineering that helped shape the development of motoring across Europe.

This wonderful survivor still displays so many features from those pioneering days:

🔹 Wooden artillery wheels
🔹 Upright steering column
🔹 External hand controls
🔹 Open two-seat coachwork
🔹 Early single-cylinder engineering
🔹 Veteran Car Club dating plaque showing 1905

At more than 120 years old, it’s quite extraordinary to stand beside a machine that was built when powered road transport was still in its infancy.

And this is exactly what Retro Garage is about.

Not simply cars, but preserving the people, engineering, craftsmanship and stories behind Britain’s motoring heritage.

🇬🇧 ANOTHER WONDERFUL PIECE OF BRITISH MOTORING HISTORY – WOLSELEY BULLNOSE 🇬🇧

Following the remarkable 1905 De Dion-Bouton, here’s another very special veteran from today’s movements — a beautiful Wolseley Bullnose, registration WC 1773.

The unmistakable rounded “Bullnose” radiator gives these early Wolseleys their distinctive appearance, accompanied here by a wonderful polished aluminium bonnet, separate wings, exposed suspension and beautifully simple mechanical engineering.

These are the vehicles that take you right back to the pioneering years of British motoring — an era when virtually every component was designed to be maintained, adjusted and repaired rather than simply replaced.

For SGF Logistics, vehicles like this require a very different approach to transporting a modern car.

With narrow tyres, considerable ground clearance, exposed components and completely different suspension and braking systems, loading and securing has to be carefully considered around the individual vehicle.

When you’re trusted with something like this, you’re not simply transporting an old car.
