2026 is off to a flying start! 🚀 The workshop has been packed with MOTs, servicing, and general repairs. We’ve also had a fair number of challenging jobs to get our teeth into.
I don’t usually do videos (I’m distinctly camera shy 😅), but this was an unusual enough to share.
A new customer came to us with a 2019 Skoda Rapid TSI suffering from a very intermittent non-start fault (It had actually been made worse by the tapping at the point the video was recorded), previously having been advised it would need a main dealer to fix it.
The car would start and run faultlessly all day, with the non-start only occurring occasionally after being left overnight. We were able to diagnose an intermittent power loss to the engine ECU, caused by a faulty power supply from fuse board (In the video, you can actually see the fault occur on the test lamps when we tap the board).
The fuse board was replaced with a genuine part, which was sensibly priced. Curiosity did get the better of us, so we dismantled the original unit and confirmed the fault as a failed relay contact on the printed circuit board, unusual on a vehicle of this age with low mileage.
Another happy customer 😊
