A few weeks ago Stav fitted, purely because it was free and as a quick experiment to see if it would spool at all, a massive 1200bhp+ capable 76mm Holset HX50 , to his 1.8T swapped MR2.

It actually did, gave a wider powerband and almost twice the peak power as a n/a 2ZZ would, but still far too laggy and overall much less powerful than his old HX40 setup.

So he fixed this problem by removing the massive HX50 and fitting another massive HX50…

Also gained about 250bhp from doing so...Want to build your own 1...

Here’s a small but important PSA for anyone using our chargecooler kit using the Bosch-style chargecooler pumps (the OEM fit for Mk1 Focus RS, RangeRovers, etc etc, p/n 0392022002)- Check they’re actually flowing properly, as they may be spinning backwards!

While we’ve only ever had 1x fail, we have had two now (non Bosch, as most are now, but a known brand) where the internal wiring polarity was wrong, so if wired up the ‘correct’ way (there is + and - cast in to by the plug), they span backwards, which gives terrible water flow, making the chargecooler very ineffective!

A 2min swap of the wires and it’s fixed, but it’s never something you’d expect to happen, so it’s worth checking.

And anyone who is due to fit one, do this first! Obviously very easy to test, and it’s not worth taking the risk it’s wrong, even if the odds are slim!

For road or drag use, even top speed events, it’s proven already our 1.8T swap MR2s don’t require an oil cooler.
But hard circuit use? Realistically any car should, including these.

This video is Thomas showing you how he designed and installs the oil cooler setup on these cars, not just to work well, but be easy to live with and minimise issues even if you have a bump on track…

Not quite finished yet, but Thomas’ 1.8T swapped MR2 with his new aero is off the ramp and ready to drive!
It’s pure function, but looks absolutely wild.
Flat floor from front of splitter to the back of the diffuser and right to the edges of the side skirts- It’s footprint is huge!
Lots of small additions to the aero are left to do, but all the main bits are done at least.

Ridiculous amount of work, but the result is worth it, and he’s already dying to hit the track and try it out.

Thomas has spent far too much of his life creating the aero for his MR2 this past weekend, but to be honest, to make this much progress in this little time it’s not surprising!
It’s not quite done, but what is done is pretty wild, and here’s two videos showing the progress so far!

This weekend Thomas set to work designing some serious track aero for his 1.8T swapped MR2.
Pure function, completely flat floor from the huge front splitter (same design Stav had when his car was totally stable at almost 200mph), flat floor reaching the full width of the (massive!) tyres, and a super long and shallow rear diffuser which joins to the flat floor, far longer and deeper than most, reaching beyond the rear wheels.

Fair way to go, but it’s getting there…

Remember the appallingly bad 1.8T swapped car a company built and the new owner brought to us to fix a few weeks back?

Well we got to work on it, and it’s far far worse than we ever imagined, so much so it’s hard to understand how it’s even possible to do some of these things.

Thomas uploaded 3x videos to his YouTube yesterday showing what’s been found so far, and it’s almost indescribable.

Our first look on the ramp without dismantling anything…

As a preview to the disaster inside the videos, these pics show a tiny % of what’s spotted so far, but you will see it all in the videos above...

Pic1- Main (unfused) power wire with insulation removed and wires half cut (how can that even happen without it being fitted like that?).

Pic2- Roll cage bolted through the thin and flexible floor with 3x M8 bolts and no spreader plates. So more dangerous in a crash than not being there at all. Could rip it out with your bare hands.

Pic3- Oil cooler fittings leaking badly and fitted above the oil level line so no oil could actually get through them.

Pic4- A big chunk of ARB bush missing (how?! It’s almost new 🤷) so tried to hide that fact by slapping some goop over the top of it.

Pic5- The M6 threads for the water temp sensor housing got wrecked (again, how 🤷) so taken out to massive M10 holes for some reason.

Everyone makes mistakes or forgets things, but this isn’t 1 or 2 or forgetting anything, this is just incredible. You need to watch the videos to see what we mean.

400cell sports cat tailpipe on customers car for MOT reasons, but honestly, we quite like the look.

Not invisible like the stealth tailpipe, but just a hint of something out the ordinary for the people who know…

Honestly it’s only intended to keep MOT testers happy, and it’s just a simple 400cell ceramic core, but we quite like the look, especially with the corner spats on the bumper which hides it a little.

Another customer car done, many many still to go 🤯😂
