Are you looking for a fresh start in 2022?
As our current apprentice comes to the end of his training and transitions to the role of full time experienced mechanic with us, we are looking for a junior mechanic to join our team either directly or we can help you via an apprenticeship scheme with the local college.
Background
We carry out a broad range of jobs from basic servicing, engine and driveline work, suspension upgrades, performance tuning and restorations, through to preparing vehicles for overseas expeditions, which can include fabrication (storage systems), electrical (creating new wiring looms), plumbing (shower systems!), hydraulics (power steering and hydraulic winches), etc.
We regularly receive cars from around the country for detailed diagnostic work, picking up the pieces from where dealers and other garages have struggled to get to the bottom of the problems.
Whilst we mainly work with Toyota 4x4s, there is a lot of variety in the work we do and plenty of opportunities to learn new skills. We expect the range of vehicles to expand in the future as we expand into our new workshops and take on more general 4x4 servicing work.
We are increasingly taking on more restoration projects on older Land Cruisers from the 1970s-1990s and have even carried out a ground up restoration of a Land Rover 101 Forward Control!
We work closely with a broad range of customers from all over the UK, and even some from abroad, who are all passionate about their vehicles resulting in a much closer relationship between us and the customers than your average garage.
Responsibilities:-
• You will be required to work alongside our existing mechanics, assisting where appropriate as you learn the ropes of what we do.
• As you prove your abilities you will be expected to take on more tasks on your own under loose supervision.
• You will ultimately be aiming to be able to carry out vehicle maintenance and repair work to our high standards, working on a broad range of mechanical and electrical systems including carrying out diagnostics and fault finding using basic tools through to the latest computer diagnostics tools.
• You will be trained on filling out and maintaining the paperwork relating to the jobs you are working on.
• You will also be expected to ensure the working environment is kept clean and tidy at all times and to contribute to the maintenance of the workshop equipment as you learn to use it.
Required Experience and Qualifications:-
• A genuine interest in becoming a mechanic.
• A strong willingness to learn
Required Skills:–
We expect you to be able to demonstrate the following key skills that are fundamental to any job you may be applying for:-
