Busy start to 2023 at A E Performance. Some of the projects that have been through the workshop or are ongoing this year.

Lovely black Stradale in for service.

Another late 328 in for recommissioning, a GTS this time. Engine removed and refitted to allow detailing and replacement of engine bay foams. This car has been off the road for 7 years. The service book shows we actually serviced this car back in 1991 at the dealership.

Testarossa in for gear box work. Unfortunately this car still has the ZF early welded differential unit which had failed previously and been re-welded and reinstalled. This will be replaced using a single steel billet unit to prevent any future failures.

A pair of manual 612’s in for cam belt services. One required replacement of the torque tube due to bearing failure, something we’ve not seen before.

308 carburettor in for engine rebuild due to worn big end bearings.

Late 328 GTB in for engine bay refresh and insulation foam replacement. A common problem on many models from this era where the original insulation begins to delaminate and fail.
Replacement foam has not been available from Ferrari for many years so we had to source an alternative with superior heat and oil resistance capabilities than the 40 year old original. Patterns were then fabricated on site.
Whilst engine was removed it was also a perfect opportunity to refresh other engine bay components.

Recently had a run on flat 12’s through the workshop. 512tr, super low mileage Rosso Corsa Italian registered Testarossa and a rare colour Testarossa in Argento Nurburgring. All three in for engine out cam belt services.

25 years later, still under our care!
Originally PDI’d by Adam at Stratstone Ferrari in 1996.
Still with original owner and maintained by A E Performance since our inception in 2004.
Nice to see the original JVC tape player installed at PDI still in use.

Busy start to 2021!!
Just finished this Verde Silverstone 456 GTA.
Full cam belt service, all tappet clearances checked and adjusted. Leaking cam seals replaced.
Air conditioning system compressor overhauled and system serviced.

Glad to say that the workshop is back up to speed after being closed for a few weeks during lockdown.

In this week, an immaculate, late, low mileage 612 for service, MOT and air conditioning re-gas. Unfortunately, even at 9000 miles the front CCM brake calliper pistons have suffered nickel plating failure. Corroded pistons have been replaced with stainless steel units. Dust and hydraulic seals also replaced.

Super busy 2019 for A E Performance.
One of the biggest challenges of the year turned out to be getting this barn find Testarossa back up and running.
After twelve years of being off the road, this car came to us at the beginning of 2019. After the overhaul of the fuel injection system the engine was up and running again and removed to carry out a full cam belt service. It became apparent once the engine was removed for service that both head gaskets had failed due to lack of maintenance and inactivity (anti-freeze strength found to be very low prior to service).
Both cylinder heads were badly corroded, requiring fabrication of pullers to very slowly free off each head.

Workshop has been super busy over the last few weeks! Eight different Modena’s in for service and repair during April - every road variant produced - coupe, spider, F1, manual and stradale.

Lovely 355 gts in for annual service and interior refurbishment.
All interior trim components with failed sticky soft touch finish have been completely restored. As you can see from the before and after pictures, the results are perfect including all re-laser etched decals.
