expansion tank replacement and coolant pipe replacement

customers car was losing all its coolant within 2 days of filling up and subsequently running hot, however managed to catch it before any engine damage was done.

during inspection i found a pipe to have rubbed on the airbox and create a pin hole allowing coolant to escape, i also found the expansion tank to be cracked along the seam due to excess pressure.

new pipe and tank fitted then refilled with fresh coolant and bled through and leak gone 👍🏽

wee trip out to the hills last night ⛰️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

recieved a text on sunday from this customer who had broken down at the green welly stop while on a trip in their camper stating that they had a charging fault and a passer by had checked and confirmed the alternator wasn’t charging properly.

unfortunately being unable to get parts on a sunday i had no choice but to head over on monday night and get him back on the road and on his way to glencoe 👍🏽

got a lovely bottle of ukrainian beer to take home and enjoy after a nice drive home 🇺🇦

and whoever has the red car and passed on my card to them thank you 🫡

gearstick assembly replacement and linkage repair

customer reached out to me after having problems getting 5th, 6th and reverse gear and having it checked previously at a garage was quoted over £3000 for new gear cables, gearbox refurb and other useless sh*te repaired - none of these parts were the problem.

during inspection i found on of the blocks from the linkage on top of the gearbox jammed underneath the shaft making it difficult to get sideways movement in the gearstick, eventually causing the wear at the gearstick assembly and other linkage components.

everything was stripped down and cleaned. before building back up with new parts i replaced the seal on the selector shaft as it was leaking (common fault).

another customer who has saved a massive amount of money coming to me and having the vehicle checked properly 👍🏽

customers vehicles exhaust flexi had snapped off and sounded horrendous, all if the exhaust hanger brackets were also snapped off due to rust which is likely was caused the flexi to snap.

whole exhaust replaced apart from the 2 catalytic converters and customer able to use the car for work again 👍🏽

steering rack replacement

customers vehicle broke down due to no power steering, during inspection i found an exhaust clamp which had come loose and jammed itself between the rack and the exhaust causing a burst pipe and damage to the rack housing.

with the replacement pipe being £95 we opted to go for a second hand rack at £120.

once the part was here i returned again to remove the subframe and swap over the steering racks before building back up and advising on 2 tyres and a wheel alignment and a reputable garage.

another customer back on the road 👍🏽

timing chain and timing cover/oil pump replacement

was down at this customers car on monday night after checking it previously for a loud rattle and red oil pressure light.

9 times out of 10 this ends up being the timing chain guides broken up and blocking the oil pickup, however this time after stripping down the engine to get access to the chain i noticed the oil pump was in pieces and blocking the strainer.

so last night i came back down with a new timing cover with a built in oil pump and still changed the timing chain while i was in there.

vehicle started up and oil pressure light off and no further engine damage thankfully 🙏🏽 keys returned to customer who can now use their car again 👍🏽

customer bought this vehicle then had it mot’d and was advised on all discs being worn and the bushes for the arms to have slight play.

all pads and discs stripped down and everything cleaned before building back up with new parts then moving onto replace the lower arms.

customer reached out as there was a rattle which went away while braking.

suspected worn pad shims allowing the pads to move about in the carrier but upon arrival found there was no shims fitted leaving a large gap between the pad and the carrier.

new pads and discs fitted with a fresh set of shims and noise away, customer advised on exhaust holed and broken hanger which will be sorted next week 👍🏽

wet belt replacement

new customer was wary about the wet belt failing after hearing stories so wanted it changed as a precaution.

engine timed up and old belt removed and inspected - wasn’t terrible but was definitely showing signs of wear and deterioration so was worth doing.

new belt on and everything put back together.

customer had quotes from garages varying from £800 to £1000 which is crazy money for one of these.

using me you will pay £550 total for these engines and price includes -
•new timing belt
•new water pump belt
•tensioner and idler pulleys
•new gaskets for all parts removed
•crankshaft oil seal
•oil filter
•correct wet belt oil.

you won’t get a much better price for this quality of work so get booked in now!
