Hi Folks, so here is why most people just simply lose faith in main dealers! The dealer in question will not be named outright but their name is plastered all over this car and the branch is only but a 5min drive from Edinburgh airport so enough said on that 😉

This particular vehicle has spent the last 3 years of its life in and out of the dealer in question where is has been treated to a rather expensive amount of replacement parts only to have the same fault reappear once the customer was told its ready and to come collect it.

It was just by chance that I was in the customers establishment collecting parts for my trailer when they asked if i could have a look and possibly fix it as they had lost all faith with the dealer and they were at the point of basically looking to sell the car on at a massive loss as the nightmare has put them off this manufacturer with the way they have been treated!

I have been off on holiday but I have passed this job onto a work colleague who works along side me in the garage. Craig quickly realised after running diagnostics on the car that there was a sensor on the rear of the turbo housing that has failed, once he found the issue he spoke to the customer who said it had already been replaced but in this instance there are 2 identical sensors, one at the front and rear of the turbo and the customer stated they had a brand new sensor in the glovebox so Craig set about replacing this sensor which in turn was a bit of a task as it was buried down the rear of the turbo/engine so accessing it was a pain in the rear! Craig's persistence paid off and he managed to replace the sensor and low and behold the fault that wouldn't clear was now gone, next was the test drive where the vehicle was now performing perfectly again and I believe the customer was so happy to have their car working perfectly again that they have decided to keep it and not sell it on at a massive financial loss to them.

So there you go folks it just goes to show that knowledge is power and knowing how to use diagnostic tools properly is key to such a simple repair that had the main dealers scratching there heads and throwing parts at a car that required a £175 sensor.

Hi folks, so i had my first wetbelt job in the garage this week. I have tended to shy away from wetbelt jobs as I just thought they were to faffy and intricate but they are actually not to bad just time consuming.
This vehicle came in last week for a engine service as the oil light kept coming on. Once I checked it over I suspected that the wetbelt was starting to deteriorate at only 38k 😲 at this mileage the last thing you would be expecting to change would be the timing belt but unfortunately wetbelt engines if not serviced at the right times using the right grade of oil are failing much more often nowadays.
If you have a wetbelt vehicle and are not sure if its in need of replaced book it in to get checked.

Hi Folks its been a while since I have posted anything on my page but not to worry as there is going to we weekly post going up soon as I have an assistant started on Monday answering the phone and posting videos and pics on my page!

The reason for this post is im looking to hire a mechanic to cover a variation of jobs in the garage, experience in this environment is a must but I will consider the right person with less experience if they are willing to learn. Must be punctual and be willing to put a shift in.
