🚨Scam Alert?? 🚨
We never like to draw attention to negative reviews, as most of the time they are a misunderstanding resolved. However, in this case, there is absolutely no evidence to said persons claim, and they are exposing a much bigger worry.
A stranger came into our garage yesterday asking if anyone by the name of David works here because he wanted to buy his car off Facebook Marketplace .As our customers know, there is only Richard (owner/ mechanic), Gary (mechanic) and Abigail (reception). We politely told him no, and he left. But this morning we have been hit with negative reviews and false accusations, adamant that we are trying to scam him into buying his car. Clearly the work of a Facebook time-waster.
He provided screenshots of the messages between him and this David person in his review. David said he was at a bar, then at Newland Garage, but as we told the gentleman nobody named David was in that day or a customer. Now, he has decided we are dodgy scam artists who created a fake profile to make him believe we wanted to buy his car, whilst using our real business address... Makes sense, right??
We are a totally transparent business, so we wanted to make you all aware of any scams that involve our business name. Unfortunately, we have no control over what people say about us, but on this occasion, this has now been resolved, thankfully. As a small business, we really appreciate feedback, but on this occasion it had nothing to do with us!
But two things to take from this: we would never message you from anything other than this page or our verified numbers. And we have never and will never do business over Facebook Marketplace.
Thank you!
