🚘 Is your vehicle due its service or Mot?
🚘 Are you planning a summer road trip?

The owner of this 2022 Cupra Formentor is going on holiday to Devon and Cornwall and as he is going to be doing quite a lot of miles he decided to bring his service and Mot forward a month so he could have peace of mind that his vehicle is in a safe condition.

We’re delighted that this was our 200th review!

A little background to this one… During the customer’s service, we noticed the key fob battery was running low, so we replaced it as part of the visit. Unfortunately, after they got home, the key stopped working. While faulty parts are rare, they can occasionally happen, and in this case the replacement battery turned out to be defective.

As the customer lived nearby and had only just collected the car, one of our technicians drove out to their home, identified the faulty battery and replaced it there and then.

We can’t always prevent faulty parts, but we can make sure we do everything we can to put things right. We’re really proud of our team for going the extra mile, and we’re incredibly grateful to our customers for taking the time to leave reviews like this.

Thank you for helping us reach 200 reviews!

⚠️ Workshop Health & Safety Notice ⚠️

Due to the current heatwave, all staff are reminded to check the temperature of the following before making contact:

🔥 Steering wheels
🔥 Gear k***s
🔥 handbrakes
🔥Leather seats

Failure to do so may result in:

❌ Burnt palms
❌ Burnt fingers
❌ Burnt backs of legs
❌ Burnt bottoms

The workshop competition this week is to see who can collect the most “heatwave injuries”.

Bonus points if you’ve already been caught out by the exact same thing earlier that day. 🤦‍♀️

☀️ Stay safe out there!

🔧 Help Us Help You
One of the most common causes of delays during servicing and repairs is not being able to locate the locking wheel nut key.
Our technicians can spend valuable time searching gloveboxes, boot compartments and storage areas when all they really want to be doing is working on your vehicle.
😅 Save us from a treasure hunt and please leave your locking wheel nut key easily accessible.

We recently had this Lexus in for rear brake pads and discs.
A question we often get asked is:
“Do I really need the brake discs as well as the pads?”
The answer is — not always.
If the discs are still within specification and in good condition, pads alone may be perfectly fine. But when the discs are worn below the manufacturers specifications, cracked, or heat-spotted, fitting new pads onto worn discs can lead to:
* Reduced braking performance
* Brake vibration or noise
* Uneven pad wear
* Premature wear of the new pads
In cases like this Lexus, the rear discs had reached the point where replacing both pads and discs was the safest and most cost-effective option long term.
Cutting corners where your brakes are concerned is never a good idea.

A brief history of Japex Automotive Limited 🎓
Japex was founded by Stuart in 2005, following 10 years of experience working with Toyota and Lexus. Ross joined in 2008, bringing with him a further 10 years of experience across Nissan, Mazda and VW.
By 2014, we had outgrown our original 3-bay workshop on Primrose Hill, so we took the next step and moved into a 2,500 sq ft unit at Happy Valley Industrial Park—expanding to 4 ramps and adding an MOT bay.
In 2016, when the neighbouring unit became available, we expanded again—adding another 2,500 sq ft. This allowed us to install 3 additional ramps, a Hunter Elite TD alignment bay, a dedicated tyre bay, and our own parts store.
None of this would have been possible without the continued support of our fantastic customers and the hard work of our incredible team—thank you all 🤩

You may have noticed a new face on our reception desk recently.
We’re pleased to welcome Kerrison who is joining us as Service Advisor.
He’s settled in well - especially after being thrown in at the deep end last week while Danny enjoyed some well-deserved time off!
