Quite a rare car these days, MK1 discovery, this being a Lichfield 5.0V8, with a non conventional AC set up with centre console rear AC, leaking HP pipe, not helped by it's proximity to a very hot exhaust downpipe either, the system designer for some bizarre reason chose to split the system pipework using QC ( quick connect) fittings, these are normally found on machine cabs, the idea to enable the cab to be removed easily and retain the gas charge ( never happens as they leak but there we go) this presented a issue as no one stocks much in that type anymore but I was lucky to find one 90 degree for the leaking pipe to enable me to make a new hose up to give front AC operation, new filter drier and oil and the old system was back in operation after a few decades in storage... Lovely drive and brought back some memories of my old MK1 3.5 V8i I had 27 years ago...

So another beautiful Jaguar XJS-R with new AC upgrades in modern Sanden compressor and modern parallel flow condenser for improved performance and safety with HFO Flammable refrigerants that Europe is moving over too in the next few years, new pipes and pressure control, plus for this car, the HVAC was in poor operational standard, only having one fan speed as in maximum, no air direction control and no heater valve operation, so replacement HVAC module, solenoid valve, water flow valve and a pair of blower fans to correct all the issues internally, now the car behaves as design intended with excellent AC of 4.8C with a 30 degree ambient stationary at idle engine speed.
Beautiful car, the best colour combination as well, red and black with cream leather, very nice car indeed.

37 degrees probably isn't the best temperature to fight two blowers in and out of a Jaguar XJS V12, then needing heat to sort out the misshapen PVC air ducting after someone had stuffed it back after I assume a failed mission to get to the bottom of why the blowers were not doing what was asked of them, then to find the actual climate control module had failed ( likley again from carelessness probing with a multimeter had short circuited the ECU, and finally back in to replace the defrost vacuum solenoid valve... To be rewarded with cold air from the centre vents at the correct fan speed.
But in true classic car work, there is always a hidden gem, a seized shut heater valve, so to be sure when the new replacement arrives, it will work, couple up my digital manometer to observe we actually have functional vacuum applied to the heater valve when requested from the temperature selector, as it functions, the trim can all go back in place in readiness to dispatch the car once the heater valve arrives.
So from what was seemingly a simple case of fitting our air conditioning upgrade kit, and can you look at why the blowers don't work properly please, has ended up, a new AC system, two replacement used blowers, used replacement matching HVAC module, solenoid valve and heater valve...

(Our thanks as always to Ben at simply performance ltd for his prompt support in finding us a good working matched pair of blowers and module, without these and his support it would have been a nightmare buying what undoubtedly would have been the same as we had already in someone's scrap from eBay hoping for a result, thanks Ben great service as always 😊)

I think I may have found what the designer of the caterpillar challenger door sunblind did before he went to CAT... He designed the blowers and ducting for the Jaguar XJS... Back breaking task in a confined space.

Another XJS V12 now equipped with our Fen Air International ltd Sanden compressor AC upgrade kit, Genuine sanden compressor, parallel flow condenser for improved thermal transfer, new pipes, filter, pressure switch etc , all bringing the car upto modern performance standards for high pressure and Flammable refrigerants future proofing this beautiful XJS Sport.
Rolls Royce with a Genuine sanden compressor kit, parallel flow condenser, Spal cooling fan, pipes , filter drier, pressure switch, under dash heat and cool HVAC unit , just waiting for the client to complete the woodwork inside to conclude the upgrade.
Living in a Rural area, it's the time of year as harvest draws closer to get round and support as many farms as possible, claas lexion with a leaking evaporator as seen by the green under UV light, compressor change on another Lexion and a pipe repair and recharge on a very tidy almost show standard Claas Dominator from the mid 80's , classic combines .... Another Stealth Tax customers, not my fault but now I have to pay 3Euro per part contained within the box or envelope... basically it will mean that for less paperwork and form filling parts under 150Euro will no longer be sold into the EU as value over 150 Euro standard shipping rules apply , this is nothing but a Tax imposed by the European Union on commerce between the UK and the EU for private individuals, or put another way, a Protection racket... I thought the Krays were bad..
