Vanquish generation 1, front subframe corrosion is a known issue, have a look at just how bad it can be!

We have a lot of experience in these cars and know them well. Rather than replace the subframe with an enormously expensive Aston part we had our sub contractor remove all the corroded areas and fabricate new sections. The result, a perfect properly zinc coating protected, replacement.

More snapped bolts! This time it was with us.

Handbrake caliper bolts can be rusted, very tight and it’s too much for the bolt to handle, this one snapped and left its thread still in the hub.

We soon had it drilled out and the thread restored, another bolt was in stock. A replacement hub is reassuringly expensive from Aston Martin so this customer was delighted we managed to save it!

Last week we had gear selector issues and ow there are more!

But this one was the gearbox, the selector rod bolt had snap off and someone had tried to weld the selector arm in place. It didn’t last too long…..

We removed the gearbox, repaired the original thread and bolted it back together for many more slick gear changes!

This V8 Vantage owner was very worried when he could no longer select 5th and 6th gears, an expensive gearbox repair was looming.

But we quickly diagnosed the problem as a selection issue - a bolt had fallen out of the gear stick shroud mounting and fallen into the gear selectors. A magnet got it out and ten minutes later it was back where it should be and all gears were available again!

I didn’t get as many pictures, let alone any good ones, of this car as I’d have liked. It’s a pretty special ,eh, special but can anyone tell us why?* Extra points if you get the colour right!

Following on from our recent Valhalla launch it is an amazing machine with extraordinary technology and incredible design but I just don’t see it catching on in Bonnie Scotland -wiithin half an hour of being parked those exhaust pipes will be full of rain water!
