Motorbike maintenance is crucial to keeping you safe on the road. If you bike has been in storage for a while, or off the road over the winter months, it can develop safety critical issues.
Before that first ride out check:
1. Tyres - tread, pressure, cracking and age.
2. Fluids -engine oil - level and condition, coolant levels and brake fluid
3. Chain and drive - check it is lubricated and the right tension
4. Brakes - test rear and front brakes for firmness and look for leaks or rust on brake discs.
5. Lights and controls - test all lights and horn before driving off.
6. Around and under the bike for leaks or rust, check small animals nests.
If you are not comfortable doing these checks yourself, some garages offer free or low-cost safety checks to get your bike back on the road safely.
