The Social Garage Project CIC

10/10/2026

Nearly 10pm on a Saturday night, and still working away on vehicles. Music, a munch, pals and no sleep makes the unit a good place.

Happy Saturday, folks!

We will be open a bit later at midday today as we have a meeting with our good friends at The Ayrshire Community Trust about presenting our project at a social services even soon 🙂

One of the many collaborations we have planned to grow our Project.

🔧 Momentum × Social Garage 🚗

As part of our monthly meetups, the Momentum.official lads will be heading along to The Social Garage Project CIC to get stuck into something a little different.

The plan?

🔧 Work together to service a car
🛠️ Learn some practical skills
🤝 Take responsibility for an individual task
🧠 Understand why ownership and teamwork matter
💬 Sit down afterwards and talk about what they learned, what they enjoyed and what they found difficult
🍕 And, of course… finish with some good food!

This isn't about turning the boys into mechanics.
It's about giving them a real environment, a real responsibility and a chance to discover what they're capable of.

One person has a job to do.
The team relies on each other.
Something doesn't go to plan? Work it out.
Finish the job? Take pride in it.

And then we bring it back to Momentum:

Awareness. Choice. Responsibility.

A massive thank you to Dex and the Social Garage Project CIC for opening their doors to Momentum.

We are looking forward to it 🤝⚫️🟡

We are delighted to announce that we are supporting Momentum.official later this month, by providing the young boys in the programme with practical, hands-on knowledge of car maintenance and repair.

This will be followed by pizza and a discussion between the members of Momentum and those within The Social Garage Project CIC, to see what everyone took out of the session, and what we can maybe achieve going forward together.

If you know of any boys aged 13-18 who could do with a little guidance and support in life, and would find this course beneficial, please either contact myself or Tam McCann at Momentum for more details. Also, we would be delighted if you could follow his page.

The more organisations such as ours can collaborate, the more we can make a difference.

Thank you.

Team SGP.

⚫🟡 JANUARY 2027 — EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST 👀👋

Following the success of our first community programme, we're getting ready to welcome 6–10 local boys aged 13–18 for another six-week Momentum programme in January 2027.

Six weeks of conversations, challenges, new experiences and opportunities to look at things a differently 💡🧠...

We are also taking things beyond the room too, with monthly activities, practical experiences and opportunities to connect with people and organisations within our community.

If you're a young lad aged 13–18 and think Momentum could be something you'd be interested in, we'd love to hear from you.

Express your interest and find out more 🤝

Morning folks.

Our first opportunity for funding is now online. It is the Participatory Budgeting fund by the Council, and we would really appreciate your vote.

https://northayrshire.communitychoices.scot/budgets/19/investments?filter=selected&heading_id=77&page=2&random_seed=7521113&fbclid=IwVERDUAUwSrZleHRuA2FlbQIxMABwZG9mAXNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAABHqSjtWwj9ZVu8LGhOhOwzTgQm0HuGGRrkIUAYNSEwA63d13sykRo68eB8-Bc_aem_7d0O08QWLXfOLVl9-cBF5A

It runs for approximately a month and every vote counts.

We also ask if you could support our affiliate, Fullarton Hub in their bid to receive funding.

This bit of funding will hopefully be the first of many to really begin to achieve our goal.

Thank you!

Morning folks.

Does anyone happen to know where locally could make gears for a gearbox?

Thanks

We have had an incident tonight with a visitor going through paperwork without permission in the office. It happened twice today and was also caught taking photos of someone else's invoices.

I have opened this Project with a huge level of trust put into each and every person who comes through the door. It has been at a massive personal cost financially, personally and emotionally.

If I lose the ability to trust those who come through the door then this whole idea won't work. This was after having the individual in for several hours, buying everyone dinner and doing a huge job to help this person whose car would not have run otherwise, with three journeys across to Dalry for parts.

Other than this, I had a great day with new friends and one of the deepest and most interesting conversations we've had since opening the The Social Garage Project CIC.
