What a busy start to the year we've had!
But however busy we are we will always try and fit you in as quickly as we can. We know that no one wants to be without their vehicle.

This vehicle went to a national chain garage for new tyres. The wheel nuts were found to be rusted solid and snapped on attempted removal. The national chain garage were unable to offer remedial action and advised the customer to seek help from us.

With time and care we were able to drill the heads of the snapped pieces off, this released the pressure allowing the threaded parts to be unscrewed by hand.
The pictures of the snapped nuts show how a "small" job can require time and knowledge to do properly.

Does your vehicle feel like it's trying to wag its imaginary tail?
If so it could be a real axle bush!

A rear axle bush is designed to facilitate slight movement between the rear axle and the rest of the vehicle.
In this video you can see what kind of movement happens when the bonded centre pin completely comes away from the rubber bush.
This will make the vehicle feel unstable (like a dog wagging its tail) over about 30mph.
We can replace bushes like these with new ones to prevent tail wag!

Vehicle tyres are often worn cords, cracked, perished or damaged by objects. But this is a type of damage we haven't seen before!
The hole in the tread is down to the cords and so dangerous to drive on.
How it got there, we can only guess but a new tyre is the only option in this case!

We can supply and fit car, van, motorhome, campervan, motorbike and trailer tyres, often same day if needed. We can also carry out puncture repairs while you wait if we have a pair of hands free at the time.

Cars can be very surprising.

We had a customer's vehicle in yesterday, a 2006 focus.

The complaint was an intermittent banging or knocking, we were unable replicate the fault, so asked the customer to take one of our mechanics out on a test drive to replicate the issue.

It took a few minutes and a hill, to finally replicate the issue. A small shudder, and a pop through the exhaust.

The mechanic instantly recognised the noise as a misfire, causing the fuel to ignite in the catalytic converter. No running issues were observed with the vehicle, before, or after this episode.

We drove the vehicle into the workshop, and removed the HT leads. We found corrosion of the pin on cylinder 3 coil pack.

Bingo, we believed, so carried on stripping down, removed the HT leads, and found excessive soot on the spark plug ends.

We decided to remove the spark plugs, and then instantly found a serious mechanical issue on cylinder 3 spark plug.

The spark plug had been leaking combustion gases through the thread, which had eaten a channel through, removal of the plug showed that the spark plug aperture had been ovalled by the gases.

Luckily we stock spark plug timeserts, this was lucky timing, it was just at the point of being repairable. Had this not worked the customer would have been at a point of requiring a new head, had this not have worked.

Timesert fitted, new spark plugs, new HT leads, and a new coil pack.

The customer is back on the way, with a car that is now back to full power.

This is what a rear heated windscreen looks like through a thermal imaging camera.
The vehicle came in with the heating element not working, we carried out a wiring repair and this is how we checked it.
