Something a bit different today, and a job for The Gulf Collection that I've been meaning to get around to for a while now, but other work has taken precedence.
We're not intending on keeping them in the collection, as they are just too heavy to be deploying in the field as part of the display, but will suit someones collection, but first these two Mk82 500lb bombs need some light restoration, and a coat of red oxide, and olive drab.
We do have a pair of new crated snake-eye tail fins for these too, known affectionately as the "brolly of doom"
The last picture isn't ours, but shows what they look like, with the tail fin in situ.

May as well pull it apart whilst waiting for a belt kit.
The previous belt change was done by eye, by the look of it, with the injection pump 180 degrees out, not wrong, but not accurate, as I couldn't get the locking pin in the pump without adjustment.

Somewhere underneath here, there's a linkage, I best have a look.

Rear dampers were fubar, so a decent pair of monroes were in order, new clutch fitted, and the body back on a new chassis.
Time for a bath, and some grub!

First bit on the new chassis, and last pieces off the old one.

After a weekend away at the Temple at War show, with The Gulf Collection, it's back to doing what we do best, fixing Land Rovers.
Before I can lift the body off the chassis, it's best to do a footwell repair, whilst it's all bolted together.

It's always with a bit of trepidation, that I take over from another non LR garage, and this one is probably better off in our hands.
Diagnosed with clutch failure it went elsewhere, where they began to dismantle it, but finding too much rot, stopped, so it's with us for a chassis swap.

However they started to dismantle the top of the gearbox in situ, but without removing the tunnel, jacking it up way to high and damaging the seatbox. What a shame.

Anyhow, the clutch failure was a common one, pushrod through the fork.
Take a look at that chassis though, good job Richards Chassis official has us covered!

Looking complete on a rather sunny day :)

First shakedown run successfully completed, and it drives really well.
All systems operational, just the temp sender and gauge to fit, to show the correct engine temperature.
