Another Aprilia Tuono V4 🇮🇹 finished at Rannoch Moto 🔧

In for a routine service and health check, which uncovered a heavily sticking exhaust valve and badly corroded control cables.

Replacement central exhaust fitted, new cables installed, and the exhaust valve actuator zeroed, recalibrated and cables adjusted to manufacturers specifications.

The customer requested a stator and charging system health checked.

Now back with the customer for some happy riding!

Another one finished at Rannoch Moto 🔧🏍️

This Yamaha R1 came in with a few running issues and suspected clutch slip, which turned into a fairly comprehensive overhaul.

The carburettors were fully stripped, ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt with new seals, choke plungers and float valve components. Fuel levels were then individually set before the carbs were refitted and synchronised on the bike.

The clutch was also stripped and inspected, clutch basket carefully deburred to remove notching, before fitting new friction and steel plates and setting everything back up.

A set of new spark plugs and fresh engine oil and filter finished the job, followed by final setup and a road test.

Now running cleanly and pulling strongly again 👌

Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory in at Rannoch Moto 🇮🇹

This stunning Tuono was in for a routine service, including fresh engine oil, oil filter and air filter.

Another leaky set of forks in the workshop, this time on a Honda CRF250L. 🔧

Both forks stripped, cleaned and inspected before fitting new seals, new bushes and fresh fork oil.

Rannoch Moto also offers front fork servicing for all types of motorcycles, from leaking seal replacement and fork oil changes through to complete fork rebuilds.

Triumph Street Triple 765 Track Bike – Workshop Series

Part 2: What Was Found

Following on from Part 1, with the fault confirmed to be internal, the engine was removed from the bike and the crankcases split to get a proper look at the gearbox.

Once inside, the extent of the damage became clear. Several gearbox components showed significant wear and damage, including the gears, engagement dogs rounded, selector forks worn and selector drum.

A good replacement gearbox was sourced along with a replacement selector drum and forks.

A few other issues were uncovered along the way, including damaged threads for the selector drum retaining plate.
