🦭 Our Code of Conduct: Respecting Lundy’s Seals

Every interaction with a seal is on their terms. Lundy is their home—we’re just visitors.

Whether you’re watching from the shore, exploring by boat, or in the water, we ask everyone to give seals the space and respect they deserve. If a seal chooses to approach, enjoy the moment quietly and let them remain in control of the encounter. Never chase, follow, touch, or try to attract them.

By allowing seals to decide how and when they interact, we help keep wildlife wild and ensure these special encounters remain safe and positive for both seals and people.

💙 Respect their space. Enjoy the privilege. Leave only memories.

🌊 What’s below the surface at Lundy?

Beneath the waves lies a hidden world of towering kelp forests, colourful reefs, curious seals, and an incredible diversity of marine life. From delicate sea fans swaying in the current to shoals of fish weaving through underwater landscapes, every dive reveals something new.

Protected waters have helped create one of the UK’s most remarkable marine environments, showing how nature can thrive when given the chance. The surface may be stunning, but the real magic begins below it.

🌬️🌊 June So Far: Wind, Waves & Weather App Obsession 🌊🌬️

This June, the wind has been doing its own thing, the swell is acting like it’s got a personal vendetta, and Ben & Leigh are glued to their phones like it’s a competitive sport. 📱💨

“Is it going to calm down?” Leigh asks, refreshing the swell chart for the third time in five minutes.
Ben squints at the wind map. “Maybe… no, definitely not. Hold on, check the other app.”

Meanwhile, the ocean doesn’t care. It just keeps throwing waves and gusts like it’s auditioning for a blockbuster storm movie. And somehow, the apps update faster than their sanity can keep up.

Lesson learned: June is less “predictable weather” and more “wind and swell roulette,” and Ben & Leigh are along for the ride—armed with phones, snacks, and slightly frazzled optimism. 🌊💨

📖⚓ Meet JC – Lundy’s Unofficial Historian! ⚓📖

Many of you will have met JC on board over the years, and if you have, you’ll know that there’s not much about Lundy that this man doesn’t know!

From fascinating tales of the island’s past to stories of its characters, shipwrecks, wildlife and mysteries, JC always has something interesting to share. Of course, after all these years, we’re still not entirely sure which stories are 100% true and which ones he’s having us on with… but that’s all part of the fun! 😄

One thing is certain – every trip is a little richer when JC is on board, sharing his passion and knowledge of this very special island.

We hope you’ll enjoy hearing some of his stories throughout the summer as much as we do.

🌫️ Lost in the Mist – Lundy Style 🌫️

There’s something truly magical about Lundy when the fog rolls in. One moment the island stands proudly on the horizon, and the next it’s wrapped in a blanket of mist, leaving only the distant sound of seabirds and the gentle hush of the sea.

Fog on Lundy has a way of slowing everything down. It softens the landscape, creates an air of mystery, and reminds us just how wild and untamed this special island really is.

Whether you’re arriving through the mist or watching it drift across the cliffs, it’s a side of Lundy that never fails to captivate.

🌞⚠️ The latest weather warnings have taken us all by surprise… and things are getting serious. Even Leigh has broken out the shorts this early in the year! 😲🩳

We’re officially issuing an Extreme Weather Warning: Leigh’s Legs Have Been Sighted! 🚨😂

Residents are advised to remain calm, apply sunscreen where necessary, and avoid staring directly at the glare of his legs. 😎☀️

One of the most special things about encountering seals around Lundy is that every interaction happens on their terms — not ours.

We don’t pursue, corner, or interrupt their natural behaviour. We simply respect their environment, stay calm, and allow their curiosity to decide the moment.

And that’s when the magic happens… a quiet connection built on trust, respect, and wild nature being exactly as it should be. 💙

The ocean is their home — we’re just lucky enough to be invited in.
