Quick update on the engine rebuild ….
Did a leak test on the the cylinder head valves which revealed that all 12 of them were leaking 😕 removed them all and cleaned off the carbon deposits, lapped them all back in . No more leaks
Cleaned off the carbon from the pistons and spotted a little bit of damage to number 2 piston luckily the cylinder liner is unaffected .. looks like in the past this has probably had a spark plug break off when it was serviced and they haven’t got all the bits out .. this is the problem when buying a car with no service history ,, the piston can be reused the damage is minimal and just on the surface 👍🔧

Wife’s car in today .. not owned it long
2019 Citroen c3 1.2 with 48k on the clock ( wet belt engine)
Stripped the top off and the belt looked very close to failing …
Took the sump off to find the oil strainer 60% blocked with bits of the wet belt .
The car has been using a bit of oil recently so …
Engine out and full strip down
Hone the liners
Replace piston rings
Re grind the valves ( cylinders 2 and 3 leaking through the intake valves ) ..
Next
Clean the carbon off everything
Build back up with new wet belt kit
All new seals and gaskets
