At a Cabinet meeting this evening, it was agreed that the council will submit Option E to Government as part of plans for Local Government Reorganisation across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
What would Option E propose?
✅ Huntingdonshire as a standalone unitary council
✅ Peterborough, Fenland and East Cambridgeshire as a unitary council
✅ Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire as a unitary council
Option E will be submitted to Government by the 28 November deadline. The six other councils across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will also submit their preferred option.
The Government will make the final decision on Local Government Reorganisation in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough following consultation, which is expected to take place next year.
