One of the infamous “Wet belts” gracing the workshop with its presence this week. This one hadn’t quite reached its change interval but the customer wanted it replacing for peace of mind, we’re glad they did!

Whilst the belt wasn’t the worst we’d seen, the oil strainer was still stuffed full of old pieces of belt. That’s why on any wet belt engine, it’s imperative not just to replace the belt, but to also take the sump off and check, clean and potentially replace the strainer or any oil feeds if necessary.

Leaving debris in is guaranteed to cause you further issues down the line and preventative maintenance like this is truly a lifesaver (and a wallet saver too!)

Genuine belt kit, belt cover and oil pump belt supplied and fitted and tied together nicely with a full service. 🔧🚙

This isn’t one we’ll be forgetting any time soon…👀

To say these were worn out has to be the understatement of the century.
The brake pads had become that thin it’s dropped out and disappeared!

It’s then gone on to use the next best thing it could, the brake caliper itself. 😳😳

The icing on the cake was that the brake disc got so thin that the piston (the part that pushes the brake pads onto the disc) popped out of the caliper and proceeded to completely lose any form of braking and make a bloody great mess!!

All repaired and good to go (and stop more importantly)! 🛑

We are proud of our team member, Ben, who has been hard at work these past few months (and not just in the garage)! 🥊

He’s been training in preparation to participate in a charity boxing match at the end of April, to raise money for ‘A Shining Light’.

This amazing charity spreads awareness of teenage cancer, and was set up in 2022 in memory of Luke, a close friend of Bens.

You won’t find many in this condition!😮

This very clean R53 Mini Cooper S has graced our doors twice in recent months for a major suspension overhaul at both front and rear.

Despite being a 19 year old vehicle, this Cooper S has covered a mere 49,000 miles! It only seemed right to give this car the “full monty” and get it in top shape for years to come. 🔧

We started by replacing the rear subframe and treating any areas of corrosion it may have been hiding. We then complimented this by completing a conversion to the newer, later generation R56 rear suspension setup. This included the all-important alloy rear trailing arms that aren’t anywhere near as susceptible to corrosion as the original steel arms, and are also much lighter!

Next, we moved onto the front of the vehicle and replaced the front subframe, front bottom ball joints, one inner steering tie rod, front bottom arms and bottom arm rear bushes. Whilst there, we also replaced the corroded front brakes and brake backing plates to really tie the front end all together. The whole underside of the vehicle was then coated with Lanoguard rust protector to keep it as new as possible, for as long as possible.

It also made sense whilst it was undergoing all this major surgery to do some preventative maintenance and replace a crankshaft position sensor seal, which are known to be a nightmare for leaking oil. 🤦

During the replacement, we also discovered a substantial air leak causing higher than expected fuel consumption and a high revving idle combined with underperformance. A quick 5 minute fix and an adaption of its running parameters, and it was running as smooth as it left the factory!

Last, but not least, we fitted 4 Kuhmo PS91 tyres and completed a 4-wheel laser alignment to keep it driving as good as new. 🛞🛞🛞🛞

A massive effort has gone into this to get it back to near perfect condition; we’re that pleased with the outcome, we thought it only right to share it with you.

It’s not every day you get the chance to work on a classic so it was a pleasure to be doing so on this 1983 Ford Capri 2.8 V6 injection.

Repaired and MOT’d by ourselves including an Oil and filter change, tyre change and a lovely new Sportex exhaust system modified to fit along with new gaskets and studs on one bank of the engine. If you look closely enough you can see where the old gaskets had been blowing before (look for the sooty staining)! Not bad to say we fitted this exact exhaust to this exact car over 20 years ago

We couldn’t quite believe our eyes when we saw this 👀💥

2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport in for a transfer box replacement after the old unit seized solid due to lack of lubrication. It left quite the mess as you can see! These boxes hold very little oil so even the smallest of leaks require attention or they can end up like this.

New Genuine Land Rover transfer box and oil fitted and it’s ready to roll!
