What does a vintage car restoration expert do at the weekend for fun?

Joins the annual Benson Veteran Cycle ride of course! Here’s Julian (left) on an 1870 Coventry No. 1

The wonderful Benson ride, 14 miles long, was almost certainly the longest ride this bicycle has been on in the last 100 years.

Julian had a LOT of fun, but says it wasn’t the most comfortable cycle ride he’s been on lately…

I was archiving some images and came across this beautiful colourised photograph of the Boat-tailed Bentley that we restored.

This was taken in 1927 and we believe it to have been during a holiday taken by the young Mears, (an army officer at the time he commissioned the car) possibly in or around Ifracombe, Devon.

These glimpses of social history as afforded by the research into the cars we see, are such fascinating moments in the world of restoration and conservation.
