This one was a little concerning.

The customer came to us after being charged by another garage for a wheel bearing replacement the week before.

When we removed the bearing, it was clear that the original bearing was still fitted.

The customer had paid for a repair that, based on our inspection, had not been carried out.

Always use a garage you trust, and don’t be afraid to ask questions about the work being done.

This vehicle was recovered to us after a starter motor failed just a few days after being fitted by another garage.

Once we inspected the failed starter motor, we found damage to the casing, which appeared consistent with the starter having been forced into position rather than removing the necessary components to create enough room for a correct installation.

This resulted in a failed part, an unnecessary breakdown and another repair for the customer.

Sometimes, taking the extra time to do a job properly can prevent a much bigger problem later.

Engine warning light? Don’t ignore it.

A customer came to us after visiting another garage about their engine warning light. They were told the light was due to low fuel and that the car simply needed a service.

However, when the car arrived with us, we noticed engine oil was leaking.

After carrying out further checks, we found:
-The timing belt was close to failing
-The oil filter and sump plug had not been tightened correctly, causing the oil leak

This is why an engine warning light shouldn’t simply be cleared or dismissed without properly diagnosing the cause.

Thankfully, the issue was found before it resulted in much more serious engine damage.

If your warning light comes on, get it properly checked. It could be telling you something important.
