No warning lights. No obvious warning signs. But this Nissan arrived with us as a non-runner.

Initial checks found no compression on any of the cylinders — and unfortunately, the damage was already done.

The vehicle had apparently overheated, but on this particular model there isn’t necessarily a warning to tell the driver what’s happening before things get serious.

With the extent of the internal damage, repair wasn’t the sensible route, so we fitted a replacement engine to get it back up and running. 🔧

It’s a good reminder that not every major mechanical problem announces itself with a dashboard full of warning lights.

If your car is overheating, losing coolant, running differently or simply doesn’t feel right, don’t wait for a warning light to tell you there’s a problem.

A wet belt is definitely not something you want to wait until it fails to replace. ⚠️

This Ford Transit Custom is a perfect example of why.

By the time it came to us at just over 90,000 miles, the wet belt had already begun to fray. Left to deteriorate further, the consequences can go far beyond replacing the belt — potentially resulting in serious and very expensive engine damage.

For this Transit we replaced the wet belt and oil pump belt using a genuine Ford kit, followed by fresh oil and a new filter.

Preventative maintenance might not be the most exciting money you spend on your vehicle, but it can save you a lot more later.
