One of many recent jobs, this golf had issues selecting gears in various conditions of driving after test driving the vehicle under light driving conditions we inspected the slave cylinder and gear cables and diagnosed it as the clutch that had failed and once the gearbox was removed we wasn’t wrong the pressure plate on the clutch and broken apart causing it to only work on certain parts, supplied genuine clutch and slave cylinder from Volkswagen and re assembled, we re bled the new slave cylinder up and tested and the vehicle drove better than ever

We got a call a few weeks back to a broken down seat Ibiza can we go recover it and diagnose why it won't start so we got there and turned the key to find no compression, so instead of it possibly causing more damage we investigated by hand and eye, with it being rush hour we moved the vehicle to a safe location and continued our diagnosis, under further investigation we found the timing chain had stretched causing the valves to hit the pistons resulting in it bending 3/4 of the valves in the head.

A diagnostic job carried out for one of our customers this vehicle fitted with a td5 had problems starting and initially idling having known from previous experience with these engines that they can be quite common for glow plugs I tested them first, all readings came back fine for the glow plugs so I carried on my diagnosis and used my experience to next check the wiring out of the rocker cover as this is where the glow plug wiring harness is constantly covered in oil the have a tendency to leak oil back through the harness and into the ecu plugs so I followed the wiring back and into the ecu plug under the drivers seat to find oil ingress in the Ecu plug so then I traced the wiring up to the connections and checked all them to find oil has run all the way through both harnesses requiring both harnesses replacing which is what we did, once they was replaced the Ecu plug cleaned out codes reset I tried the vehicle for it to start straight away and to idle perfectly

Customer came to me for a service carried out on her vehicle and a full health check which I carry out on all jobs so I start the service all is fine as I pull the front wheels off I find the the brake pads are left with 1mm on them so I contact the customer and she informs me this vehicle has only just been in at fiat for a gearbox so I priced up and replaced the front discs and pads also, adjusted the handbrake and cleaned and regressed all hub, when road testing the vehicle I found it to be crunching into gear, so I again ring and inform the customer and said you can take it back to fiat for this issue or I can have a quick look now so she asks me to look straight away due to commuting some miles to work so I look at the linkages there all ok next I remove the gear box level plug to find no oil trickling out, so I cautiously removed the drain plug on the bottom of the gearbox to find no oil coming out what so ever so I also refilled the gearbox oil up, I then checked the gearbox for oil leaks which there's was non so I then re tested the vehicle to find the crunch to have gone

Got a call around 4 with a customer complaining of a non start issue so I called to get a starter motor on my way as i always strive for a first time fix and customer satisfaction when I got to the vehicle I did all the relevant checks tested power to the starter and out of the starter motor, the results of my tests showed that there was power to the starter but not out indicating that there is a fault with the starter motor so I changed the starter motor on the spot and tested to find the vehicle to start straight up leaving the customer happy
