This one is in with us for some general TLC and a list of jobs to bring everything back up to standard, including:

A proper early E46 M3 back with us at Spartan Automotive for some much-needed recommissioning after a prolonged period off the road.

This Y-reg early car is a fantastic example, finished in one of the absolute peak E46 M3 colour combinations. ❤️

We’ve carried out a comprehensive mechanical refresh, including:

🔧 S55 EXHAUST CAMSHAFT ALIGNMENT — GETTING THE DETAILS RIGHT

Another S55 in with us at Spartan Automotive for precise exhaust camshaft alignment.

On the S55, correct camshaft timing is critical. With the engine being sensitive to timing accuracy, even small deviations can have an effect on performance, drivability, operation and ultimately save your engine from damage.

We use the correct locking tools and alignment procedure to ensure the camshafts are precisely positioned and timed to BMW specification. Every detail matters when you’re maintaining an S55 properly.

Brand new G81 M3 Touring in with us at Spartan Automotive. 🔥

This one has already been treated to a selection of Suspension Secrets upgrades, and came to us for a full custom wheel alignment and geometry setup.

We dialled the chassis in using our custom M3 CS-inspired geometry settings, optimising the alignment to sharpen turn-in, improve front-end response and make the most of the upgraded suspension — while keeping it perfectly suited to fast road use.

A seriously capable package, now properly set up to get the best from it. 👌

🔧 E46 M3 — Full OEM Suspension Refresh

Another E46 M3 in the workshop for a full OEM BMW suspension refresh, bringing the chassis back to the standard these cars deserve.

The suspension was stripped down and refreshed with genuine BMW components, alongside new Powerflex Suspension Bushes trailing arm bushes and a complete wheel alignment & geometry setup to get the car driving exactly as it should.

While the car was with us, we also took care of a number of additional age-related items.

- Full OEM BMW suspension refresh

- Full 4-wheel alignment & geometry setup
- Timing chain tensioner seal
- Rocker cover gasket
- A/C belt
- Differential input seal

🏁 E92 M3 — Comprehensive Service & Maintenance

This E92 M3 has been in with us for some important preventative maintenance and servicing, keeping the S65 V8 and DCT drivetrain performing exactly as they should.

🔧 Work carried out:
- Engine oil & filter service
- DCT gearbox service
- New DCT gearbox pump
- Differential oil service
- Input shaft seal replacement
- Centre prop shaft mount replacement
- New earth straps
- Wheel speed sensor replacement

The DCT and differential services are particularly important on these cars, while replacing the input shaft seal and centre mount addresses common age-related issues before they become bigger problems.

Another E9X M3 leaving Spartan Automotive ready for plenty more miles. 🏁

Spartan Automotive | F80 M3 Differential Bush Upgrade 🔧

When you’re running circa 700bhp, the standard differential mounting has a lot more work to do. 💥

This F80 M3 came in for a serious differential mounting upgrade, designed to better control differential movement and cope with the increased power and torque.

🔧 Upgrades carried out:
Powerflex Suspension Bushes
- Powerflex Black Series front differential bushes
- Powerflex Black Series rear differential bushes
- Rear dual differential mount
- New bushes fitted to the rear dual mount
- Upgraded front differential bushes
- New uprated BMW hardware fitted throughout at the same time

With the upgraded bushes, rear dual-mount setup and fresh uprated hardware in place, the differential is now much better supported and ready to handle the power being put through it. 💪

A worthwhile upgrade for a high-powered F8x, particularly when traction, drivetrain movement and putting serious power down are all part of the equation.

Spartan Automotive | E46 M3 SMG to Manual Conversion 🔧

Another E46 M3 receiving one of the most popular transformations for these cars — an SMG to manual conversion.

As part of the conversion, we also fitted a new clutch, along with a number of other key components to make sure everything feels exactly as it should.

To finish the driving experience off, this one received an E60 545i short-shift kit, paired with a weighted Clubsport gearknob — giving a much more direct, mechanical and purposeful shift feel. 👌

The SMG system is a huge part of the E46 M3 story, but there’s no denying that a proper three-pedal manual conversion completely changes the driving experience.

🏁 Impromptu trip to the ring 🇩🇪

When James Michael Stone said he had a ring trip planned and asked if I wanted to join there was only ever one answer!

The M3 was straight into the shop to have the Ohlins dampers fitted that had been sat in the corner for around 6 months, a quick check over as I don’t think I’ve really used the car since EuroRun2025 🥺 and the M3 was ready to go 💪🏻

A testament to the E46 M3 - don’t get me wrong I’ve spent some time & money on this car but it never fails to impress me.. a turnkey package that ticks virtually every box and gives me confidence to drive it absolutely anywhere at the drop of a hat. Whether it’s mountain passes, Autobahns, race tracks or taking the kids to school the E46 M3 does it all 😎

Any way enjoy a few snaps from an amazing weekend made all the better by some great company 😁

Another E46 M3 completed at Spartan Automotive, following an extensive programme of preventative maintenance, repairs and refurbishment.

This one has had 2 of the E46 M3 “Big 3” taken care of with the S54 rod bearings and VANOS work completed, alongside a seriously long list of additional jobs to bring the car right up to scratch. 🔧

Work carried out included:
- S54 rod bearing replacement
- VANOS rebuild
- Air conditioning condenser replacement
- Engine mounts
- PAS hose replacement
- Differential input and output seals
- A Replacement camber arms
- Backbox hangers
- Refurbished brake calipers
- Replacement bump stops
- Rear hard brake lines, front to back
- New headlight lenses
- Tidying up previous poor angel light wiring
- Masses of replacement hardware throughout
………..the list goes on and on!!

And, most importantly... that Max Power steering wheel. Proper 00’s cool. 😎

These cars are now at an age where extensive preventative maintenance is becoming just as important as routine servicing. Done properly, however, there is a reason the E46 M3 remains one of the greatest M cars BMW ever built.
