Trying to get parts for my Auster has been hard work. Finally I’ve gone and bought a complete aircraft to dismantle for parts. Will sell some bits but keep the majority. This will keep TW501 flying for some years to come.
Struts already gone for inspection. Work to continue.

Small update
On inspection of main struts it turned out that the the rear starboard strut has a significant amount of rust on the inside. Due to this the strut was deemed unusable so now I’m on the hunt for replacement one.

Tw501 has not flown for two years. This was mainly due to relocating my workshop and as that pays for flying its best to get priorities right. She is now getting the attention she needs. Replacement undercarriage as the original one are twisted as a result of crash in47. New gear was purchased last year and now time to blast and inspect ready for paint and recovering. All looks good but need to run them past the Engineer. Should be painted next week I hope , then to be covered.

Customs stop in Callie my way to middle Zealand. This was my first trip over the channel. Great fight out and fantastic weekend with Auster club flyin. When it was time to come home it was a totally different story. Poor weather and channel crossing at 500 feet due to fog. Arrived back at dunks safely and made me a better pilot even if I had only 30 solo hours.
