๐จ A MESSAGE TO NEW DRIVERS (and their parents!) ๐จ
Passing your test is not the end of learning. Itโs the very beginning.
Too many young drivers fall into the trap of thinking โIโve passed, I can handle anything.โ The truth?
The first 6โ12 months after passing are the most dangerous of your life on the road.
โ Keep your passengers to a minimum. A car full of mates is a distraction factory. Music blasting, jokes flying, phones outโฆ and your concentration split in pieces. One second of showing off can change everything, forever.
โParents, think carefully before handing over the keys to a high-powered car. A 1.0 or 1.2 engine is MORE than enough for a new driver. Speed is not a toy it is the difference between life and death. Too many teenagers have been put behind the wheel of something they are not experienced enough to control.
โConfidence does not equal competence. Just because you can pass a test, doesnโt mean youโre ready for every situation. Motorways, night driving, bad weather they all demand skills that take time to build.
Iโve seen the heartbreak that follows when young drivers push their limits too soon.
Iโve seen parents who thought โit wonโt happen to my child.โ Iโve seen lives cut short because of one wrong decision.
Youโve got your licence. Now EARN your experience.
Drive steady.
Build miles safely.
Respect the road.
If youโre a new driver reading this:
๐ Take fewer risks.
๐ Carry fewer passengers.
๐ Drive a car you can control, not a car that controls you.
If youโre a parent reading this:
๐ Think long-term.
๐ Set boundaries.
๐ Donโt let pride in your childโs achievement blind you to the very real dangers out there.
Because the truth is harsh: youโre not invincible, and the road will teach you lessons the hard way if you donโt respect it.
Stay alive long enough to become the skilled driver you want to be.
