We have modern facilities at our conveniently located premises on Holmes Chapel Business Park, just off Manor Lane. Our MOT bay is the most up-to-date in Holmes Chapel fitted with the latest testing equipment ensuring your vehicle is inspected to the highest of standards. We have a friendly and professional team who specialise in MOT testing and general service and repair of your vehicle. We can accommodate your vehicle at a time to suit you and also offer a while-you-wait service should you prefer to wait in our modern customer reception area. HC MOT & Service is set up to carry out MOT tests, Servicing, Cambelt replacement and General repairs. At HC MOT & Service we aim to inspire confidence in all of our customers through our mechanical knowledge, efficiency, reliability and competitive pricing. Our MOT rate is £49.95, if you require a MOT Re-Test we will carry this out free of charge within 10 working days of your original MOT test. Our labour rate is £45 per-hour +vat for any repair or additional work you require. HC MOT & Service, a well established, independent family run business based in Holmes Chapel are looking to recruit an experienced MOT Tester/Motor Vehicle Mechanic as soon as possible

This is a busy MOT testing centre and you must therefore hold a current MOT card and have experience of identifying issues and carrying out repair work on all makes and models of cars

You must hold NVQ level 3 in Motor Vehicle Repairs ( or equivalent) and have a full driving licence

Working hours are Monday to Friday
8.30am-5.00pm ( no weekends)

Salary is based on skills and qualifications

Some really easy things to check before your MOT

Ensure all lights and indicators are working
Ask somebody to check your brake lights are working

Check condition of your tyres, the minimum legal tread depth for tyres is 1.6mm, but it’s recommended 3mm. This can be checked with a tyre gauge or a 20p coin as the coin is about 2mm wide, simply insert into the tread groove, if you can’t see the outer ring of the coin then your tyres are above 1.6mm

Check your windscreen for any cracks or chips, also make sure your washer bottle is topped up and washers are working

You must make sure that the car has enough oil and fuel in it to carry out parts of the test which involve revving the engine

Number plates must be easy to read

Make the outside and underneath of the car is clean, the tester can refuse to test the vehicle if not clean

The best way to get your car through it’s MOT is to make sure that your car is regularly serviced
