Aston Martin AMV8 service and rust repair

Someone who has known many of these cars from new once told me "rust repair is a service item on these" 🤣

During a service inspection some small patches of rust to the chassis rail and battery tray area were found , the chassis rails rot from the inside out on these, so as usual it was much worse than it looked. Also a lot of peeling underseal and surface rust.

I won't patch rust, it's all got to go, so after some hard graft it's all solid again and all surface rust treated, primed and re undersealed

This car is still with the original owner! Great to keep such an example on the road. Best of all, he still puts miles on it!

A man and his E-Type V12

We recently got this iconic British classic back on the road with a new ignition system, cooling system overhall, oil leak rectification and tune

The owner purchased the car brand new, and immediately sent it to be repainted as he wasn't a fan of the lack of factory colour options, opting for a unique shade of purple!

during the wait for delivery, his first child was born, and he had a holiday booked road tripping his new car! no issue, jaguar made him a one off original middle baby seat! with seatbelts

it was a honour to be trusted with a car that holds such history with the owner, and give it back to him ready to be enjoyed again. however much we all love the cars, it's the memories that we make in them that holds the real value. the story makes this one that extra bit special

911SC 3.0L flat 6 - upgraded to sequential EFI

brought into this century with Jenvey throttle bodies and coil on plug ignition, running on MaxxECU sport aftermarket engine management. Crank sensor and cam sensor fabricated onto original components in house

Charging has been upgraded with a modern internally regulated alternator and starting performed by a wasp starter motor

the exhaust was replaced with a set of SSI manifolds and new back box, much improving the tone

with the engine having recent history of rebuild, the internals of the 3.0L flat 6 remained untouched, only service items such as valve clearances, front and rear seals, cam cover gaskets and a compression/leak down test were undertaken

the engine bay has been kept as clean as possible with backdated heater ducts, removal of unnecessary brackets and modules, wiring loom re routed and finished with gold heat insulation

Now running and ready for mapping with

Ben's "fast road spec" na MX5

Our longest build to date! Finally in the testing and snagging stage

Something I've really enjoyed on this build is what I'd call, keeping it classy, everything refurbished and upgraded, but all in black or bare metal, subtle but high quality finish, reminicant of what you'd expect on a high end classic restoration. It's a joy when the customer is on the same page

The car was one of the first in the workshop, after sitting for a couple of years it had suffered the typical mx5 rot

The sills and and inner wheel arches had rotted so everything was cut back and replaced with new metal

The entire suspension and drivetrain was stripped off the car, allowing us to prime and re underseal the entire underside

All of the suspension was sandblasted and powercoated black. New uprated suspension bushes installed all round and all other components refurbished before building back up. The addition of a torsion limited slip differential was a must for handling and chassis rail reinforcement kit to stifern it up. Ben also opted to stiffern the chassis even more by permanently bolting the hard top on

The engine wasn't left out with a repaint of the block, rocker cover and intake, everything cleaned back to new condition with service items such as cambelt, water pump, plugs, seals and gaskets. For modifications the flywheel was changed for a lightened unit, the exhaust manifold was already aftermarket so was heat wrapped to tidy it up.

The engine bay was tidied up, wiring routed neatly and unnecessary components removed, an aluminium radiator and full silicon hose set installed. Finally we fabricated a custom airbox to Ben's spec to house a panel filter and duct air from the skuttle panel area for a true cold air intake, with the added bonus of great induction noise

A single post cannot portray the amount of work that's gone into this car, with Ben being handy on the spanners himself, this project will continue to evolve with upgrades planned already! This work has simply given him a clean rust free base to build on. Can't wait to see it exploring some great driving roads next summer!

911 SC - Black & White

The theme of this project from the start was to modernise and simplify the styling and performance of this iconic model. With the huge Porsche aftermarket scene being so strong, the options were endless. However the client didn't want to lose the essence of his car, which he's owned for decades!

Styling

The whale tail was staying, and so were the big bumpers, however we wanted to rid of the huge amount of rubber trim these cars came with factory. The SCRS style bumpers by EB Motorsport were designed to mimick the rally cars of the era, keeping the shape of the original while saving weight and smoothing out the look

The original white with black accents colour scheme suites the shape so well, so it became our mission to black out everything on the car. With trim coated satin on larger pieces and gloss on details to add contrast

We also utilised the nature of 911s being similar across multiple generations, with a 964 front screen and rubber to eliminate the dated trim strips

The lights were all in terrible shape, so would need replacing, we wanted to push the boundaries of the cars theme so it was decided to undertake a side project of creating a set of one off led lights, front and rear, with tinted clear lenses and (more on this later)

The vision has finally started to come together as the car progresses towards completion, and we are very happy with the outcome

Many thanks to for the amazing metal and paintwork, and also suggestions and feedback on the design choices throughout the build

Gilbern Invader in last week running rough and cutting out. After diagnosing a stuck choke and several air leaks on the Weber carb, we rebuilt it and now she's running strong again

Amazing little car, with it's fibreglass body, sharp looks and Torquey little V6 under the bonnet, it's a great drive

Daimler SP250 Dart In for a pre summer service and check over

With striking Bodylines and a V8 soundtrack this Daimler ticks all the boxes. It's also lightweight with a fibreglass body. The manual gearbox sits behind what must be one of the prettiest V8s of it's time. A driving enfusiasts classic

I'm sure we will see this one again soon for some further maintenance
