Full Circle Service Ltd is one of High Wycombe's largest independent Car repair workshops. As a family owned and run business which was set up by Steve in 1993 we have the ability to cater for all customer situations that arise.

You're not alone. Most drivers don't realise that car air-conditioning loses up to 10% of its refrigerant gas every year — even with no visible leaks or faults. Over time, that means weaker cooling, harder-working components, and more fuel used just to keep you comfortable.

🚗 LEFT YOUR OIL FILLER CAP OFF? Here's What's Actually Happening to Your Engine…

We've all heard of it — or maybe even done it ourselves! 😬 You top up your oil, get distracted, and drive off without replacing the cap. It sounds minor, but it can cause some real problems. Here's what you need to know 👇

🔴 What's happening inside your engine:

🌀 The rotating engine parts throw oil everywhere — it gets sprayed all over your engine bay, belts, hoses, and sensors
🔥 Oil landing on hot surfaces (like the exhaust manifold) burns off — causing that scary smoke from under the bonnet
💨 Without the cap, oily mist is pushed out under pressure, coating everything in its path
📉 You're losing oil the whole time you're driving — enough to trigger your oil warning light or worse

⚠️ The damage you might not see straight away:

🔧 Rubber belts and hoses — oil causes them to swell and crack. If your cam belt got soaked, it needs replacing ASAP
🔌 Electrical connectors and sensors coated in oil can cause misfires and fault codes
🌡️ On turbocharged cars, oil near the turbo is a genuine fire risk
📊 Enough oil loss can starve the engine of lubrication — leading to serious wear

🧹 How to clean up the engine bay properly:

1️⃣ Let the engine cool completely first — never clean a hot engine
2️⃣ Cover the alternator, air filter, fuse box and any connectors with plastic bags
3️⃣ Apply a quality engine degreaser and leave it to soak for 5–10 minutes
4️⃣ Agitate with a stiff brush to get into all the gaps
5️⃣ Rinse with low pressure water only — no pressure washers near electrics!
6️⃣ Dry thoroughly with compressed air or leave the bonnet open to air dry
7️⃣ Top the oil back up to the correct level before restarting

✅ Once it's clean:
• Check your dipstick and top up if needed
• Inspect belts and hoses for oil damage
• Start the engine and check for any warning lights
• If warning lights stay on or the car's running rough — get it checked on a diagnostic

🚗💨 DIESEL DRIVERS — Are You Using Fuel Additives? Read This First!

If you own a diesel vehicle, you've probably seen those bottles of injector cleaner or engine cleaner on the shelves at Halfords or the petrol station — but do they actually work, and are they safe to use? Here's what we think you should know! 👇

🔬 What Do They Actually Do?
Over time, diesel engines build up carbon deposits on the injectors, intake valves, and combustion chambers. This can lead to:
❌ Rough idling or engine shudder
❌ Loss of power and poor throttle response
❌ Higher fuel consumption
❌ Black smoke from the exhaust
❌ Difficult cold starts

Fuel additives are designed to dissolve and flush out these deposits when added directly to your fuel tank — acting as a deep clean from the inside.

✅ When They CAN Help
Used correctly and regularly, a quality diesel additive can:
✔️ Restore injector spray patterns for better combustion
✔️ Improve fuel economy by a small but noticeable amount
✔️ Reduce engine noise and smooth out idle
✔️ Work well as preventative maintenance on higher-mileage diesels

⚠️ When They WON'T Help (And What To Watch Out For)

❌ They won't clear a seriously clogged injector — that needs professional cleaning or replacement
❌ They won't fix underlying faults causing carbon build-up (e.g. a faulty EGR valve or DPF issues)
❌ Using too much can damage seals, O-rings, or sensitive fuel system components
❌ Cheap, own-brand products can be more harm than good — always choose a reputable brand

Additives work best as part of a regular maintenance routine, not as a last resort when something's already wrong. If your diesel is already showing warning signs — increased smoke, rough running, power loss — book it in with us first. There may be an underlying fault that no additive will fix.

🚨 THINKING OF BUYING A USED CAR? READ THIS FIRST! 🚨

Professional car dealers and warranty experts have revealed the 6 cars (and engines) they personally refuse to buy — not because they don't sell, but because the repair bills can be DEVASTATING. 💸

Here's what to watch out for:

🔴 1. FORD ECOBOOST ENGINE (Fiesta, Focus, B-Max)
The timing belt runs inside the engine oil — when it breaks down, so does your engine. Average repair cost: £3,141

🔴 2. MAZDA 2.2 DIESEL (CX-5, Mazda 6, Mazda 3)
Timing chains stretch, injectors leak, DPFs fail. More than TWICE as likely to fail as the average engine. Repairs averaging £3,480 — one claim hit £7,058!

🔴 3. STELLANTIS PURETECH ENGINE (Peugeot, Citroën, Vauxhall)
Another wet belt nightmare. Failure rate is 31% higher than average and it can silently destroy itself by starving the engine of oil. Average repair: £2,152

🔴 4. FORD POWERSHIFT GEARBOX (Some Fords & Volvos)
Starts with jerky changes… ends with total failure. One dealer called it "one of the worst gearboxes ever invented in all of human history." Average repair: £2,351

🔴 5. CVT GEARBOXES (Various brands)
Smooth in theory, fragile in reality. When they go wrong, they're extremely expensive to fix — average repair cost: £2,924

🔴 6. JLR INGENIUM ENGINE (Range Rover, Discovery, Jaguar)
The big one. A timing chain rattle on startup is a very bad sign. These engines are 162% more likely to fail than average. Repairs average £5,233 — one Range Rover Sport owner faced a bill of £32,030! 😱

✅ BEFORE YOU BUY ANY USED CAR:
👉 Check the service history carefully
👉 Always get an independent inspection
👉 Run an HPI check
👉 Listen for any rattles or hesitation on startup — walk away if you hear them
👉 Be extra cautious with any of the models above

⚠️ Remember — a bargain that costs you £5,000 in repairs isn't a bargain at all.

🚗 Is your car due an MOT? Here's everything you need to know about MOT retests! 👇
Failing your MOT isn't the end of the world — but it does mean you'll need to get the issues fixed before your car is legally allowed back on the road.

Here's a quick breakdown of your options:

✅ Same-day retest — Minor issues fixed at the same garage by end of the next working day? Your retest is usually FREE.

🔧 Partial retest — Need a specific part fixed or delivered? You have up to 10 working days for a partial retest, often free or at a small charge.

⚠️ Full retest — More serious failures may need a full retest, also within 10 working days. After that, or if you switch garages, you'll need to pay for a brand new full MOT.

💡 Top tip: To keep costs down, try to get your repairs done at the same garage that carried out your original test — it could save you money on the retest fee!

And remember — if your car fails its retest, you legally cannot drive it on public roads until it passes. So get those repairs booked in ASAP! 🙌

🚨 WARNING TO ALL CAR OWNERS 🚨

Have you noticed anything suspicious in your local car park recently? Thieves across the UK are targeting parked cars and stripping valuable parts — sometimes in broad daylight!

Parts being stolen include:
🔦 Headlights & light fittings
🚗 Bonnets & front bumpers
🪞 Wing mirrors
🛞 Alloy wheels
💥 Airbags & parking sensors

This is happening in supermarket car parks, hospital car parks, and on residential streets. Shift workers are particularly vulnerable — imagine finishing a 13-hour shift only to find your car stripped!

Thieves work FAST and know exactly what they're doing. Stolen parts are being sold on to garages at knock-down prices, so demand is high.

✅ HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF:
• Park with your bonnet/front end close to a wall
• Use well-lit parking areas
• Fit a dashcam with parking mode
• Consider a visible car alarm
• Etch your registration number onto parts
• Report anything suspicious to police on 101

🚗✨ WANT YOUR CAR TO LOOK SHOWROOM CLEAN? HERE'S HOW TO DO IT PROPERLY!

Most people are washing their cars wrong — and actually causing scratches without realising it. Whether you've just got a pressure washer or you're simply tired of paying for a car wash, here's the beginner-friendly order to follow for a brilliant result every time! 👇

1️⃣ PRE-RINSE — Start with your pressure washer, roof to sills. Do the wheels first! Keep the nozzle at least 30cm away and use a wide fan nozzle, not a pinpoint jet.

2️⃣ SNOW FOAM — This is the step most people skip and really shouldn't! Apply a pre-wash foam, leave it 5-10 mins to loosen the dirt, then rinse. This alone prevents loads of scratches.

3️⃣ TWO BUCKET WASH — One bucket of soapy water, one of plain rinse water. Use a microfibre mitt (never a sponge!), work top to bottom, and rinse the mitt between every panel. Game changer! 🪣🪣

4️⃣ RINSE AGAIN — Another full rinse with the pressure washer to get all the shampoo off.

5️⃣ DRY PROPERLY — Air drying leaves water spots! Use a soft microfibre drying towel and pat dry. A leaf blower is brilliant for blasting water out of mirrors and badges first.

6️⃣ CLAY BAR (a few times a year) — Removes invisible contamination bonded to the paint. Your car will feel like glass afterwards. 🤌

7️⃣ POLISH — Removes light scratches and swirl marks. For beginners, grab an all-in-one polish/wax to keep things simple.

8️⃣ WAX — The finishing touch! Protects your paint for months and gives that deep, glossy shine. Less is more — thin layers are best. ✨

9️⃣ FINAL TOUCHES — Glass cleaner on the windows, tyre dressing on the rubber, and a quick vacuum inside. Done!

⚡ THE GOLDEN RULE: Always work top to bottom, and never skip the pre-soak stage!

🚨 WARNING: Car Mileage Fraud Is More Common Than You Think 🚨

Did you know that roughly 1 in 16 used cars in the UK has had its mileage tampered with? It's called "clocking" — and it could cost you thousands. Here's what every used car buyer needs to know 👇

🔧 How fraudsters do it:

⏲ Clocking — Using software or physical tools to wind back the odometer, making a high-mileage car look nearly new

→ Mileage blocking — A cheap device (sold online for as little as £20!) plugged into the car's OBD port to freeze the odometer while the car is driven

🚩 Red flags to watch for:

✅ Worn steering wheel, pedals or seats that don't match the claimed low mileage
✅ Scratches or marks around the instrument cluster (a sign it's been removed)
✅ Service stamps that don't add up — look for erased figures or suspicious gaps
✅ Price that seems too good to be true — it usually is
✅ Seller who refuses to let you have the car independently inspected

🛡️ How to protect yourself:

🔍 Check the free MOT history at gov.uk/check-mot-history — it logs mileage at every test
🔍 Run a full HPI / Experian check before handing over any money
🔍 Ask a mechanic to read all ECUs — mileage is stored in multiple places, and clockers often only change one
🔍 Get an independent inspection — the AA and RAC both offer pre-purchase checks

⚖️ And remember: Clocking is a criminal offence in the UK under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. If you've been sold a clocked car, you may be entitled to a full refund.
