Soz, turbochargers don't make power.

They multiply atmospheres.

Read that again.

Yes, we said it.

Turbochargers don't know what horsepower is. They don't know engine size, quarter-mile times or dyno numbers. Their job is much simpler than that.

A turbocharger's entire purpose is to take the air pressure entering the compressor and multiply it before it reaches the engine. Understanding this means you might just want to pay a little more attention to any restriction on the inlet side of your turbo... And what do you suppose could impact the restriction on the outlet side? 🧐

Everything else you're measuring—boost pressure, horsepower and torque—is simply a consequence of that process.

This is why turbochargers don't think in PSI.

They think in Pressure Ratio.

And once you understand Pressure Ratio and how it differs from air-flow, compressor maps suddenly start to make a little more sense.
