This page documents the creation of the Uk's permanent science-fiction museum in the north-east of England. The museum is situated in Allendale Town- an extremely picturesque village in the North Pennines. Visitors to the museum will be able to find lovely coffee shops and amenities on hand, as well as stunning walks. The idea for the museum stemmed from my lifelong fascination with science-fiction. It tells the story of a young boy who dreamt of travelling to other planets- but didn’t quite make it. Instead, he had a lot of fun watching, reading, collecting, drawing, making and dreaming. From a handful of action figures and comics and staying up very late to catch old B&W movies with his Dad, this interest never waned. The museum sets out to tell a brief history of science-fiction from H.G.Wells to the current day through my experience of the genre. It will of course be biased to those movies, comics and ideas that have most affected me personally. The story will be told with many original, screen-used props and costumes, production items, animation cels and published artwork. This journey highlights the landmark worlds of Wells, ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Star Wars’, whilst also exploring key genre themes, such as robotics and dystopia. I will also be producing original, unique artwork for the museum. Keep checking back to the page to follow the ever changing museum!

Here's a short video I made a few years back (pre-Skarasen and Triffid!) - just looking at some of the original, classic, screen-used Doctor Who monsters I have saved and restored over the last 20 years. Some needed just a little tlc, whilst others required a substantial amount of time and work. One of the aspects of our little Museum I am most proud is that we conduct all restoration work ourselves.... on the premises, with repaired and lovingly restored exhibits going straight on permanent display from my workroom upstairs to Museum on the ground floor! This minimises further stress in transit to these precious old monsters! Since I put this video together a few years ago....I have restored many more classic creatures including two Mentors and the Skarasen! A new significant restoration I will be revealing shortly! Stay tuned!!!

As I sweep the morning leaves from the front of the Museum and the sun just starts to try and rise over Allendale.... a little reminder that the Museum holds a cornucopia of classic scifi beyond its classic Doctor Who collection.... a scifi enthusiast's nostalgia trip! #

When your life has involved the creation of artwork (in whatever medium that may be) actually having the chance to talk at length with the artists who touched and inspired your own work is a blessing. As an artist and lifelong, passionate Doctor Who fan - with zero 'connections' to the production or creation of the artistic worlds around it - I only ever looked from afar at those directly involved. In particular, as a painter, I (naturally) always closely followed the artists of the seventies, eighties and nineties, who produced such beautiful hand rendered artworks- expanding our visions of the televised show itself. I never expected to meet and talk to these people. Thanks to my initially professional friendship with Keith Barnfather and Reeltime Pictures- who so kindly saw the value in what I was trying to achieve in my little Museum, opportunities to actually discuss art....and so much more with some of the artists who inspired me became a reality. To 'get the gig' to interview and spend a day with Colin Howard was a blessing - and one I will always cherish. I always felt a distant kinship with Colin - even before we met.... our lives share so many similarities! Suffice to say, I'm privileged that I got to be the interviewer for Colin's Mythmakers....I did say to Keith, that I felt as a fellow painter, that I was well positioned for this edition! I simply can't wait to get the chance to see the finished DVD. I also can't wait to see how Rob Thrush managed to edit a full day of Colin and I talking everything from comic strips, desperate motorcycling, metal and of course....Doctor Who! Thank you to everyone involved for giving me this opportunity ❤️❤️❤️

With night 3 of the Season 16 display upgrade complete, I just re-mounted this lovely pencil colour drawing by Andrew Skilleter of The White Guardian- a small illustration Andrew realised for the book - 'The Who's Who of Doctor Who'. It was Andrew's coloured pencil work for this book that inspired me to have a go with them! Privileged to have some of Andrew's work in the Museum. #
