We’re now fully equipped and ready to carry out wet timing belt inspections, servicing and replacement here at Wylam Garage.
Wet belts – timing belts that run inside the engine and are lubricated by the engine oil – are fitted to a number of popular modern engines, particularly:
🚗 Ford EcoBoost – including many Fiesta, Focus, Puma, EcoSport and Transit/Transit Connect models
🚗 Peugeot & Citroën PureTech – including many 208, 2008, 308, 3008, C3 and C4 models
🚗 Vauxhall/Opel PureTech-powered models – including certain Corsa, Mokka, Crossland and Grandland models
⚠️ WHY DOES YOUR WET BELT MATTER?
Unlike a conventional timing belt, a wet belt spends its life running in engine oil. Over time, incorrect or degraded oil and normal ageing can cause the belt material to deteriorate, swell or break down.
Small particles of belt material can contaminate the oil system and potentially restrict the oil pickup. Left unchecked, deterioration can lead to oil-pressure problems and, in the worst cases, serious and very expensive engine damage.
That’s why using the CORRECT manufacturer-specified engine oil, sticking to servicing intervals and having the belt condition checked is so important.
