So....I am back after the summer. It is always difficult navigating school holidays with three amazing yet demanding children 🤣 and as usual I have had a long break from Gearboxes giving me the chance to focus on my family, it is not lost on me how lucky I am to be able to take this special time but sacrifices have to be made to make this possible, mostly financial 💸, so it feels good to be back doing what I love, fixing things!!!!

A nice build up this week allowing me to taxi my daughter to and from college whilst she adjusts to her new challenge.

No fixing this Vauxhall Astra F17 pinion shaft, so time for a new one! This job came from a local taxi firm and was back with the customer in 24 hours. Hopefully it will be good for another 200,000 miles!!!!! Who knew Vauxhalls could last that long!

People in my trade often ask me why I get involved in mending "old rubbbish" or words to that effect.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a couple from Wales in need of some help, they had taken there beloved 1990 Fiat Ducato into a garage for repair. The local garage had removed the gearbox and sent it to a gearbox company. After months of been fobbed off and ignored they visited the place the gearbox had been taken to only to be told there job was not going to get done and given back the gearbox disassembled in a box 🤦‍♂️.

After speaking with them I agreed to take a look and see if I could help.

Fortunately most of the bits had been sent with the job and I was able to replace all the worn an missing parts and get them back on the road.

Below is a message I received from them yesterday which makes all the effort worth while, two happy campers!!

Hello Steven, Thank you once again, our motorhome is now back on the road and gearbox is fine. If it wasn't for you our motorhome would probably have been a very expensive scrap vehicle as you only had a box of gearbox parts to work with. Because of your expert help and huge experience we are able to continue to use and enjoy it.
