It has been announced today that the MOT Amnesty will end on 31st July. If your car needs a MOT from 1st August it will need to be done as normal. If your MOT was due prior to this you will still qualify for the six month extension.

A further update re MOT’s

AutoCare would like to remind motorists whose MOT is due in the coming weeks/months, that whilst the government have decided to extend MOT test deadlines until October, it does still mean if your vehicle is driven and is found to be unroadworthy you will still be fined and receive penalty points. The AutoCare Network as per Government directives, will remain open beyond March 30th will relevant safety practices in place and prioritising Key workers. EDIT:

It seems that things have changed again already! Once your MOT date has been updated to reflect the six months then you will be able to tax your car! I wish they would keep MOT Stations informed!!

But just checking your tyres, lights and oil level does not make your car safe & roadworthy! Please be aware of any unusual knocks, bangs, squeaks or rattles as the main reasons for car failing their MOT is not tyres & lights!!

Morning all, just a quick update to follow on from from the announcement that you do not need a MOT for six months after 30th March.

Whilst you do not need a MOT for 6 months, if your Car Tax runs out during this period you WILL need to get a MOT before you can tax your car!

If you do not get a MOT then you will need to take your car off the road and declare SORN until you do get a MOT! If you do not have a drive/garage you will need to store it somewhere as it cannot be on the public highway!

Please dont get caught out!

We are stil open for MOT's and will be, going forward, after 30th March. We will collect & deliver your car back to you to avoid face to face contact. We have gloves, seat covers and anti viral wipes to clean the areas of your car that we have touched. Obviously, if Dave or I show signs of Covid-19 we will close. Keep safe & well, thank you.
