Here’s what I can see 👇

🚴 Cycle lane 👉 don’t drive in it, watch for cyclists joining or leaving
🚦 Pedestrian crossing ahead 👉 scan for people about to step out
🚐 Van pulling away on the left 👉 give space and anticipate
🚗 Oncoming traffic 👉 road position and awareness
🚧 Road markings 👉 stay in your lane and follow correctly

Tight roads and parked cars. 😅🚗 Here’s what to do.

It’s one of those situations that makes learners tense up immediately but it’s something you’ll face on almost every drive. So let’s break it down 👇

✅ Slow down
✅ Position yourself centrally, give equal space to both sides where possible
✅ Watch for car doors opening, always leave a door’s width gap from parked cars (where possible)
✅ Look ahead, plan your path early, not at the last second
✅ If it’s too tight it’s okay to stop and let oncoming traffic through first

Here’s exactly what I teach my students at this moment 👇

✅ Look right first 👉 that’s your priority
✅ Watch the flow 👉 find the gap, don’t force it
✅ Take your time 👉 it’s not a race
✅ Commit when it’s clear 👉 hesitation causes more problems than anything
✅ One mini roundabout at a time 👉 don’t think about the whole thing

When a lorry comes towards you 😅 here’s what to do.

It’s one of the most common fears for new drivers and honestly, it makes total sense. A huge HGV coming straight at you on a narrow road feels terrifying at first.

But here’s what I teach my students 👇

✅ Check your position👉 are you as far left as you safely can be?
✅ Slow down 👉 reduce your speed but don’t brake suddenly
✅ Hold your course 👉 don’t swerve, stay smooth and steady
✅ Watch your wing mirror 👉 know where your left side is
✅ Breathe 😊 it’s not as close as it looks but there IS enough room

Once you’ve done it a few times? You won’t even think twice. Promise. 🙌

Here’s what you MUST do before moving off at traffic lights 👇

✅ Check your mirrors, is anyone close behind you?
✅ Check for pedestrians still crossing
✅ Check the light is actually green for YOUR lane
✅ Move off smoothly, no wheel spin, no hesitation

The myth: it’s a chaotic, terrifying nightmare that no learner driver can handle.

The reality: with the right instruction and a calm approach, it’s completely manageable and my students prove it every single week. 🙌

Here’s the truth about the Magic Roundabout 👇

✅ It’s a series of small roundabouts, not one giant one
✅ You only ever deal with one mini roundabout at a time
✅ Same rules apply, give way to traffic from the right
✅ Stay calm, take it one section at a time and it clicks fast

They trip up so many learners but honestly once you understand the rules they’re one of the simpler things to master!

Here’s what you need to know 👇

✅ Treat it like any other roundabout, give way to traffic from the right
✅ Indicate if you’re turning right or left, no signal needed if you’re going straight on
✅ Keep your speed right down on approach
✅ Don’t stop unless you have to, smooth and confident wins every time
