We’re down the road at the Hellingly Festival of Transport this weekend with our mini Gilbert, who is 25 years old and now just about “old enough” to be an exhibit. He was a prototype of the next generation BMW R50 minis, in fact he was no 330 off ever to come off the production line.
We are (very slowly!) restoring him to his original factory spec. He’s been modified over the years, so there is some work to do, in fact he’s just had all his seats replaced so they are exactly the same pattern originally he left the factory with.
If you are around Hellingly this weekend, the festival is definitely worth a visit, don’t let the weather put you off! There are lots of beautiful minis amongst all the classic cars, tractors, trucks, steam engines, and all sorts of other amazing machines!
