🚗 Double booking today – VW Tiguan & Vauxhall Zafira

Two different vehicles in today with two different jobs.

🚗 Volvo XC90 – DPF Fault Diagnosed Properly

This Volvo XC90 was referred to us by a local garage after a DPF fault had been identified. The vehicle was booked in for our DPF chemical cleaning service.

A professional DPF clean isn’t cheap, which is why we always carry out a full diagnostic assessment before any cleaning work is authorised.

During our diagnostic checks, we found a significant exhaust leak from the fl**ge joint upstream of the DPF.

An exhaust leak before the DPF can affect the operation of the emissions system by altering exhaust flow and pressure, potentially causing inaccurate DPF differential-pressure readings and preventing the conditions required for a successful regeneration. It can also contribute to poor engine performance and recurring DPF-related faults.

Rather than simply carrying out the chemical clean and charging the customer, we identified the underlying fault and advised that the exhaust leak should be repaired before any further assessment of the DPF is carried out.

🔧 HOW DOES AN EGR VALVE WORK?

The EGR valve redirects a controlled amount of exhaust gas back into the intake. This lowers combustion temperature and helps reduce NOx emissions. The ECU controls when and how far the valve opens depending on engine load, temperature and driving conditions.

⚠️ Common failures include carbon build-up, sticking open or closed, rough idle, hesitation, smoke and engine management lights.
