Doing a total rebuild on a smart roadster roof today, clearly been unused for a long time, the button does nothing, checking power to the motor shows it should be working on pressing "open" but there is nothing on "close"
Further inspection shows why, the "close" relay in the Sam unit is not working as it should. Removing the roof motor shows the gearbox full of rust, the cables are totally rusted into the guide tubes so I suspect this is why the relay has burnt out.
So its going to need the gearbox stripping and overhauling, two new drive cables replacement cable tubes (these are normally thrown out when people buy a used complete roof replacement which is annoying lol..) the flap microswitch as its been bypassed, all sliders are broken, as are both front catches (looks like they have had a screwdriver to them) and possibly a sam clone if I can't repair this one...
