As we near the season finale it is good to remember that everything can change at the end of the final day.

With rounds to be dropped and only the best six times counting, a commanding lead at this stage can be much closer than it seems.

There is still all to play for over the final weekend with two full rounds of the Harewood Championship.

Incredibly we are about to reach the season finale of the Harewood Championship. With it all the race for in the top ten places there will be fantastic action for our final weekend.

BARC Yorkshire Centre Chairman Tim Wilson congratulates Jim Johnstone on his final competition at Harewood Hillclimb!

Jim competed at, and won his class, at the very first Harewood Hillclimb event in 1962. He went on to compete successfully, with many more class wins and accolades to his name!

Jim chose the recent August 2026 Classic and Vintage event to be his final race outing.

It was an excellent final run, as the last car on the hill, he was met with a round of applause and acknowledgment from every marshal post he passed, and a standing ovation from fellow competitors, officials and spectators as he he finished his final run, and entered the paddock!

Congratulations Jim on a long and successful racing career.

A message to anyone attending our event this Sunday regarding BBQs and a road closure;

Despite the recent rain we have taken the decision to ban any kind of BBQ at this weekend's event due to the tinder dry conditions at the hillclimb. This includes any outside cooking that could cause a spark so no pizza ovens or gas fired cooking as well as the usual type of solid fuel BBQ.

Anyone coming to the venue from the Otley area please be advised that the road from Pool in Wharfedale to Harewood Bridge (A659) Arthington Lane is closed until August 31st.
