Breaks and oil services on another Polo 9N3. Usually easy enough on these VWs with it only taking a hour and a half to do including resetting the service intervals. That being said it can take less time or more time depending on the quality of the parts. First time I’ve ever had a brand new break pad clip decide it’s no longer a clip. Ended up swapping the broken pad from the outside of the calliper to the inside of the calliper so that it held itself in the piston so that the customer didn’t have to worry about the noise and I didn’t have to go through the hassle of getting a single break pad exchanged for a good one. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of patience and elbow grease to get something like this resolved.

R56 cooper D in for rear pads and discs. This customer got every millimetre of use out of their pads but also pushed their piston so far out the break calliper it then sized so that needed replacing too. At least these R56s are easy and new enough to fix without much of a fight. New bulb holder ordered and awaiting delivery due to the Royal Mail doing their normal delays.

UPDATE:

I’ve been up to lots and have lots of pictures. Please read below 👇

The last post I uploaded on this page was 20th Feb 2026. It’s been a little bit hectic across all fronts but everything should be returning to usual over the next 2 weeks except there is one change. Due to the cost of living crisis everything has risen and it’s serious. As of “JULY 2026” the hourly rate is increasing to £30ph starting price. There will also be no more cash payments every job must be paid in full before collection. Anyway enough of the boring stuff. Here’s all the random things that I’ve been wrenching on, welding and repairing 🛠️👷🏻‍♂️
