Against my better judgment I said yes 🤷
Normally I would say a BIG FAT NO! To blasting a complete and fully assembled engine through past horrific experiences!
There are many reasons why not.
The two main ones being...
1. Filling the entire engine up with media.
2. Filling my cabinet up with oil and associated crap.
The customer was fully aware of the risks, which I explained many times. He was still keen and took full responsibility.
I think I spent more time plugging holes with plumbers mate than I did blasting 😂
To achieve this with a lower risk I dry blasted the engine first on a low PSI to bring it back to a uniformed ally finish, following that with vapour blasting. This prevented me having to hold the gun on anything for any period of time and lowering the chances of the slurry jet breaching any seals, etc.
I think the outcome was worth it.
If you are looking for something like this to be done, within reason obviously.
You will have to sign a disclaimer.
