⛔️ THIS ISN’T JUST A HEAD GASKET…

This is head gasket number 3 in a row (with another one already booked in!) currently and there’s a lot more to it than simply removing the old gasket and fitting a new one! 🔧

The engine has now been stripped down and the cylinder head is off to be sent away to be pressure tested and skimmed.

💡 Why both?

A pressure test checks the cylinder head for cracks or leaks that could cause problems with the cooling system or combustion.

Then, if it passes inspection, skimming machines the mating surface back to a precise, flat finish. This is especially important if the engine has overheated and the head has distorted.
Because there’s no point fitting a brand new gasket onto a head that isn't properly checked and prepared! 👌

Strip 🔧 → Pressure test 🔍 → Skim ⚙️ → Clean 🧼 → Rebuild 🔩 → Test 🧪

And that’s the bit you don’t always see when someone says “it just needs a head gasket.”

Head gasket number 3 is well underway… and Dave is certainly keeping busy!

Did you know a head gasket repair involves pressure testing AND skimming the cylinder head?

Let’s talk about timing belts …..

This Skoda came into our workshop today for the timing belt kit replacement and full service.

The timing belt is one of those jobs that’s easy to put off… until it’s too late!

If a timing belt fails, the resulting engine damage can be extremely costly, so keeping it replaced at the recommended intervals is well worth it.

While it was with us, Dave carried out the full service too, giving the car a thorough check over while it was up on the ramp.

If you’re unsure if your vehicle needs this kind of work, give us a call and we can help and guide you in the right direction.

✅ Timing belt kit replaced
✅ Full service carried out
✅ Oil & filter replaced
✅ Vehicle checked over
✅ Service light reset & service book stamped
✅ Quality & honest workmanship

⚠️ OLD v NEW ⚠️

One of these brake pads has plenty of life left and the other, well….take a look for yourself!

Can you guess which one came off the car? 👀

Your brakes don’t always give you much warning before they need attention, so if you’re hearing squeaking, grinding or just not feeling confident about them… Come get them checked 🚗💨

That noise you’ve been ignoring? 👀🔧

This Audi was in with us for a noisy offside wheel bearing.

A worn bearing might start as a humming or sound like a droning noise. Bearing replaced and back to running smoothly!

Another job well done ✅ 🔧

Have a great weekend. 👋🏻

✋🏻 It’s not always “just the brakes”

This Ford Ranger came in needing a little more attention than expected 🔧

✅ Front brake pads.
✅ Rear brake shoes & both wheel cylinders.
✅ Exhaust fl**ge welded.
✅ Automatic gearbox service booked in.

Another job sorted properly and another vehicle kept safe, reliable and on the road! 🚙💨

🚖 A local taxi driver booked in for a full service... but as with many vehicles that spend all day on the road, we found the brakes also needed replacing.

Keeping on top of maintenance is the best way to stay safe and avoid bigger repair bills down the line.

Thanks for choosing Beckett Vehicle Repairs , we hope you're back to picking up passengers in no time! 🔧

Have a great weekend everyone 👋🏻
