The smoke test machine is easily in the top 5 of tools on the van!! Also, what would we do without phones to shove down a hole and see what's going on for us!! 😂

Ford Fiesta ST with no boost, primary suspect fault codes P0106 MAP Sensor and P123A Boost Sensor (others disregarded for now).

Quick check of the turbo actuator as it's visible then straight to a smoke test. Customer is pretty handy himself having built it in to a track car so no repair needed.

I will of course go back should a second test be required and if the remaining fault codes required further investigation, they should hopefully clear once this air leak has been cured though. :)

It's much of the normal stuff really, diagnostics, dpf's and remapping which becomes a bit repetitive to post a picture of, may save up and see if we can get some pov glasses. 🤔🤞

Ebay and Amazon parts have their place, engine parts however generally don't work.

The customer supplied this throttlebody, at first it looks good enough, started fitting it and found the sensor and egr pipe aren't going to fit correctly, swap the parts over with the original unit, refit, perfect, stuggle with the boost pipe connection, programme the unit to the car and it suceeds (to my surprise), drive 50 mtrs and bang, boost pipe comes off 🤦‍♀️

I fully appreciate that genuine and OE Equivalent parts aren't always very cheap, certainly not in comparison to Ebay/Amazon pattern parts however unless you have the time to trial a cheaper part it's generally not worth doing. Also look at what the part is doing, I will never fit anything safety related (brakes, airbag etc) if it's not a brand I recognise or bought from a local parts factor.

Don't get me wrong, I have most definately used Ebay/Amazon parts, one of the DRLs on my Audi is from Amazon, it's not as pretty but it was £25 not £190.

Be careful on the choice, sometimes it isn't worth the risk and it is seen much too often, I do not provide a warranty on customer bought parts.

I made a booboo and didn't switch the machine on for todays carbon clean! 🤦‍♀️

Went to switch it off at the end of the proceedure and the machine turned on.... ffs!!

Going back Monday morning to do it properly!! 🙈
