Viper Classic Jets XW324 was the 38th Jet Provost MK5 to be produced and first flew in 1970. They’ll be updates on the operation, and insights into this classic British Aircraft.

Owned by Nick Snow and Jeff Bell XW324 will be attending airshows all over the UK in 2025.

✨We’re excited to welcome a very special aircraft to this year’s flying display at RAF Cosford Air Show. ✨

XW324, a Jet Provost T5 with a truly unique story, has a deep-rooted connection to Royal Air Force Cosford. Originally used as a training airframe, it played a key role in shaping the early careers of RAF engineers working on aircraft such as the Tornado and Jaguar.

After its service life, XW324 passed into civilian ownership, where it continued flying, supported by RAF-trained expertise to help maintain and operate this classic jet safely.

What makes this aircraft even more special is the story behind its current ownership. One of today’s co-owners first worked on XW324 as a young RAF airman during their training at Cosford in the mid-1990s. Years later, after a career in both military and civilian aviation, they tracked the aircraft down and, through determination and a chance connection, are now proudly part of the team that owns and operates it through Viper Classic Aircraft.

Today, under the care of an experienced team, including renowned display pilot Jeff Bell, XW324 remains a living piece of RAF heritage, flying once again and continuing to inspire new generations.

It’s a privilege to showcase an aircraft with such a rich history here at Cosford, returning to the place where its story helped shape so many careers.

Sometimes, aviation history really does come full circle.

It’s been suggested this was an April fool!?

You might have wondered why XW324 hasn’t been seen much over the winter.

In September we submitted our modification approval to the CAA for the removal of the RR Viper engine and the installation of the RB199 that one of our supporters found in their shed.

Extensive modifications were needed to the airframe including the installation of the Turbo Encabulator to remove the original malleable logarithmic casing and upgrade the all six hydrocoptic marzlevanes. This hasn’t been an easy task and we’re pleased to say that initial flight tests conducted from Rough Bush Airfield have been extremely promising.

Unfortunately the reheat element reduces the range to 14 minutes at Mach 6.2.

More updates soon, and we look forward to showing off the BAe Jet Provfast in 2026.

So…….a couple of weeks ago you might have seen what you thought was this! Well, it turns out that I’d made a little error and I know that many of you were too polite to point it out.

Even though it was only a small mistake I really needed to correct it, so here we are. I needed to completely start again, but now I’ve done it I’m really pleased.

This is my first (second 😂) attempt at painting a flying helmet and I hope you like it. Seeing RAF Tutor Display Team and RAF Typhoon Display Team with their bespoke lids inspired me.

Looking forward to showing it off around various airshows this year.
