Sometimes the kindest words we receive are also the hardest to share.
A family who recently joined us for a private farewell on the Solent left a deeply moving review about their experience.
It was incredibly personal, so rather than reproduce the whole review, we wanted to share just a few of the words that meant so much to Amanda and me:
“At what was an incredibly emotional time for our family, their calm and caring nature made everything feel that little bit easier.”
And perhaps something that captures what we always hope to provide:
“Dave and Amanda seemed to understand instinctively when to help and when simply to give us privacy.”
The family also spoke about being able to play their loved one’s chosen music as they said their final farewell and committed their ashes to the sea — describing the moment as beautiful, peaceful and uniquely personal.
Those words stayed with us.
Every family, every person and every farewell is different. Some families choose music, flowers, prayers or readings. Others share memories together, and sometimes there are simply a few quiet moments looking out across the water.
There is no right or wrong way.
For us, the important thing is providing a peaceful and private place, giving families all the time they need, and quietly being there when help or guidance is wanted.
We are enormously grateful when a family takes the time afterwards to share something so personal. We never forget the trust that has been placed in us, and we never take the privilege of being part of these moments for granted.
💙💙 Dave and Amanda
