🔧 Mitsubishi L200 – Test, Don’t Guess!
We recently attended this Mitsubishi L200 with the DPF warning light coming on and a noticeable lack of power, but interestingly, no fault codes stored.
The customer had previously been advised that the DPF either needed cleaning or potentially replacing.
Rather than jumping straight in and treating the warning light, we carried out some basic diagnostic checks to find out why the vehicle was having DPF issues in the first place.
🔍 The actual fault? A split boost pipe.
The damaged pipe was replaced, followed by an extended road test to confirm the repair. The vehicle is now back to normal, with full power restored and no further DPF warning.
A DPF warning light doesn’t always mean the DPF itself is the problem. A fault elsewhere in the engine or boost system can affect combustion and exhaust conditions, which can then lead to DPF-related symptoms.
Cleaning or replacing the DPF without finding the underlying cause could simply mean treating the symptom rather than fixing the fault.
